Results Round Up (Swansea & Belgium)

Sunday 25th August was the Swansea Junior Games and unlike the previous week we were blessed with great weather. It was great to see 280 athletes entered from places far and wide such as Jersey, Southampton, Hillingdon and Birmingham amongst others and we hope you all enjoyed and had a safe trip home.

Results Round Up from Carmarthen

Saturday 17th August at Carmarthen in what can only be described as horrendous weather conditions the U11, U13 & U15 Team retained their title of West Wales Welsh Junior League Champions, unfortunately it was a bit of a damp squib to go out on with many of the events having to be abandoned including the presentations! Special thanks should be given to all those volunteers who officiated in exceptionally trying circumstances for 5 hours.

Training Fees Increases and Decreases

Please note that from 1st September all junior training fees at Swansea University will be increased by 20p from £2.30 to £2.50 and all senior training fees will decrease by 80p from £3.30 down to £2.50.

Sunday 11th August was the welsh 5km Road Championships at Llanelli and it was an excellent day for Swansea Harriers with a clean sweep in the Mens race, home in first place was Marc Hobbs (15.08), 2nd Joshua Griffiths in a personal best (15.15) and 3rd

400m Hurdles Semi Final

Unfortunately David Greene will be unable to defend his World Championships 400m hurdles title in the final on Thursday. David 5th place finish in his semi final earlier today in a time of (49.25) was not enough to progress to the final.

Well done Dai; this morning David Greene qualified in a very solid 5th place in his round 1 race in the World Athletics Championships in Moscow, RUSSIA David's time of (49.79) was well within a second of the fastest time of all 5 heats, so there is still all to play for in the semi-final Tuesday at 4.40pm BST

The very best of luck to David Greene who will be defending his World Championships 400m Hurdles title in Moscow starting this weekend. If you want to watch David round 1 is Monday 12th August (8.05am BST), the semi final Tuesday 13th August (4.40pm BST) and Final on Thursday 15th August (6.00pm BST).

Saturday 3rd August was the U16 & U18 Celtic Games International at Colwyn Bay V Ireland V Scotland and it was great to see so many Swansea Harriers juniors selected for their country an achievement they can be very proud of.

Results Round Up From Cardiff x 2 & Tenby 10K

Sunday 28th July was the 4th and final round in the premier 1 Division of the U17 & U20 Youth Development League @ Cardiff. The team were in a relegation battle to survive in the Premiership. Superb team spirit was shown on the day with the biggest turnout for the team all season with the entire squad mucking in to cover as many events as possible and it was worth the effort. The team managed to hold onto 4th place on the day and in the league to avoid the drop.

Level 1 Officials Qualification

Wednesday 4th September there will be a level 1 Assistant Officials British Athletics Qualification held at the Swansea University Indoor Athletics Track open to volunteers from all clubs.
