UK Games U17 Welsh Schools Team Announced

Very many congratulations and the best of luck to the following Swansea Harriers athletes who have been selected to represent the Welsh Schools U17 International team to compete in the Olympic Stadium on Wednesday 9th May as one of the test events before the Olympic Games.

A Big Weekend of Results and 1 Club Record

The weekend of 3rd & 4th March was a very busy one for the club.

Sainsburys Active Kids Vouchers

The club are now collecting the Sainsburys Active Kids Vouchers for 2012, please donate any vouchers you receive before April 12th to Swansea Harriers. All vouchers will be used to invest in some much needed equipment for the junior sections of the club. You can hand your vouchers in on any club night.

FREE Welsh Athletics Coaching Workshops at Swansea

Welsh Athletics has established a series of workshops for coaches to engage in developmental opportunities over the next few weeks prior to the track season commencing. These opportunities are designed to allow coaches to come together, create networks of support within their event groups and to learn more about the events they coach.

FREE Officials Courses

Swansea Harriers has a large team of very dedicated volunteer officials that help the club fulfill its commitments in all its league, cup and championship fixtures on and off track throughout the year. However we really need many more officials to be able to host fixtures and field a team of officials in away fixtures.

Results British Universities Indoor Championships

In what was a very busy weekend there was also the British Universities Indoor Athletics Championships over the 25th & 26th February at the English Institute of Sport at Sheffield. The club had a few athletes present representing their university teams.

Results England Athletics U15 U17 & U20 Indoor Championships

The weekend of the 25th & 26th February were the England Athletics U15, U17 & U20 Indoor Championships at Birmingham. The club had several athletes who had reached the tough entry standards and entered where they were up against some of the UK's top juniors.

Results Welsh Schools Cross Country Championships

Saturday 25the February were the Welsh Schools Cross Country Championships at Brecon. Athletes were representing their school districts, and in the Junior & Middle age groups those that finished near the front will be hoping they have done enough to impress the Welsh School selectors for the British Schools International. Swansea Harriers had several athletes running most representing the Afan Nedd Tawe School District.

England U15 U17 & U20 Indoor Athletics Championships & Welsh Schools Cross Country Championships

Good luck this weekend to all those athletes who have reached the tough entry standards and entered the England Athletics U15, U17 & U20 Indoor Championships at Birmingham on Saturday & Sunday where they will be up against some of the UK's top juniors; Naomi James U20W Pole Vault, Lewis Preece U17M Pole Vault,

Welsh Schools U17 Long Throws & Hurdles Event Results

Thursday 16th February saw Welsh Schools host a long throws and hurdles event at Cardiff. The event was held so early as Welsh Schools must select an U17 team for the School Games to be held as one of the test events in the Olympic Stadium on the 9th May, before the end of this month. The results will be used to consider selection for the team including last years outdoors and this years indoors results.
