Back on Thursday 1st March Magnificent 7 member Dai Greene for the 2nd time in a few days broke the Commonwealth Games A standard for 400m Hurdles setting a time of (49.38) to win in Johannesburg, South Africa!! Two days earlier he first broke the standard by 0.01 of a second in Potchefstroom, South Africa and is now guaranteed to be joining the rest of the Wales team for his 4th Commonwealth Games. Well done Dai!

Saturday 3rd March magnificent 7 member Elinor Kirk placed 15th in the Benidorm Half Marathon in a time of (80.14), well done Eli.

Sunday 4th March in one of the very few events to go ahead another two magnificent 7 members had a run out over the Half Marathon distance in London. Joshua Griffiths placed a fantastic 7th in (65.18) and in the ladies race Caryl Jones finished a superb 5th (73.28); also running was James O'Callaghan placing 914th (90.41). Well done to all three.

Wednesday 7th March saw the Welsh Secondary Schools & Colleges National Cross Country Championships held at Brecon. It was nice to see so many Swansea Harriers participating for their school districts in this great schools event. Highlights included top 10 placings or first home from the club in each race as follows ;
Race 1 Year 8/9 Junior Girls; crossing the line first was 32nd Tiffany Rees (Olchfa).
Race 2 Year 8/9 Junior Boys; 6th and picking up a Welsh Vest in process Charlie Holland (Bishopston).
Race 3 Year 12+ Senior Girls: unfortunately no representatives.
Race 4 Year 7 Boys;48th Dafydd King (Gwyr).
Race 5 Year 7 Girls:having a great run for 8th was Mai Davies (Gwyr).
Race 6 Year 12+ Senior Boys: two individual medals and Welsh Vests came from Dominic Smith (Olchfa) with a SILVER who had a superb run and just one second behind in BRONZE was Elliot Lawrence (St Josephs).
Race 7 Year 10/11 Middle Girls: with the main highlight of the day being a magnificent GOLD medal win for Ashleigh Willis (Olchfa) and we had 3 others pick up Welsh vests too with 4th Eluned King (Gwyr); 6th Darcie Bass (Penyrheol); 7th Caitlyn Gwyther (Gwyr)!!! Beth Thomas (Olchfa) was unlucky to just miss out too in a great 9th place. Well done girls!
Race 8 Year 10/11 Middle Boys: like Beth 9th placed Dafydd Jay (Gelli Haf) was equally unlucky to just miss out by 1 second on being picked for Wales, but you couldn't want any better reserves waiting in the wings if any of the top 8 are unavailable.
Very well done to all the pupils who ran from the club and the very best of luck to all those selected to compete for Wales in Nottingham in the U15 & U17 British Schools International combined with the U20 & Seniors Home Countries International in two weeks time. Click here for the full results.
