Manchester Just 21 Points!!

Team captains Lucy Hammett & Lewis Preece collecting the runners up trophy (NYAL Auxiliary Final Manchester 2012)

Saturday 1st September saw the culmination of the juniors season with their most important team event of the year. 84 athletes made the long journey to Manchesters Sport City and after an overnight stay in a hotel they once again put in a magnificent effort with many personal bests where they raised their game against the toughest opposition they have faced all year. In what was a tightly fought contest across all 8 teams they finally finished 2nd by just 21 points to Tonbridge AC, as with every match if a few events had had a slightly different outcome a victory was well within their grasp, the entire team made every effort to cover as many events as possible and thanks should go to all those who had a try and what was not always their preferred discipline. However all the athletes that has represented the team in Manchester and all this year can be very proud of their achievement, to finish in the top 10 teams in the UK is incredible, very well done to you all. Thanks must also go to all the team managers, coaches and officials who have made invaluable contributions to the teams success again in 2012 our 50th anniversary year. The league is due to be restructured and split into 2 next year with U13 & U15 in one league and U17 & U20 in another, how will this go and what will 2013 hold? Thanks to the other 7 teams who made a great days competition and to the NYAL for putting on another great well organized final.
