New Record and Results (Welsh U17, U20 & senior League, Castles Relay & Triangular Match)

At the home match of the Welsh U17 U20 & Senior League on Sunday 10th June the club had a great result to win the match to go to the top of the league with the added bonus of a new club record in the U20M 4 x 100m relay, the quartet of Keiron Martin, Ross BanguraEliott Haddon and Carwyn Evans set a new time of 46.19 to beat the old record of 46.6 set back in 1996, congratulations to them all. Click here for the full results, thanks also to all those officials and other helpers who did such a great task in helping to host the fixture. The league tables have now been updated in the menu and we hope and need to have another big turnout for the final match on Saturday 4th August at a venue yet TBC to try and regain the league title.

The weekend of 9th & 10th June saw the masters enter a mixed team into the Castles Relay. The castles relay is a unique and challenging 2 day, 20 stage, 211 mile, staggered relay race, mostly on road, but with many hills and mountains. The route goes from Caernarfon in North Wales to Cardiff with an overnight stay in Newtown. It is organised by Les Croupiers Running Club Cardiff. Very many congratulations to all those who took part in very challenging conditions covering around 10 miles each and sometimes in the very early hors of the morning. The team had a great result to come home in 21st place out of the 59 teams that entered and should be very proud of their efforts. The main highlights were a fine 4th place for Sullivan Smith on stage 14, Builth Wells to Drovers Arms covering 10.8 miles in 1.03.19 and Matthew Gurmin who went 3 better winning stage 17  Beacons Reservoir to Cyfarthfa Castle 9.2 Miles Click here for the results of all stages. Wednesday 6th June was match 1 of 3 in the Neath V Swansea V Llanelli triangular match at Neath, being half term numbers were slightly lower than hoped, however all those who made it did a fine job.Very many congratulations to all those who took part and to all the officials, mums and dads from all 3 clubs who got stuck in helping out on the evening to make sure all the events went ahead. The final points were Swansea 151, Neath 74 and Llanelli 24.
