New Records and Results (UKWL, David Greene & Chris Gowell)

Firstly belated congratulations to Elin Davies who broke the club record for U17W 1500m Steeplechase at Cwmbran on Sunday 27th May with a top time of 5.31.80. U20W Katie Reynolds then broke her own club record for 2000m Steeplechase with a time of 7.41.28 as part of the Senior Womens team in the Premiership of the UK Womens League at Birmingham on Saturday 9th June.

At Birmingham the Senior Womens team made a tremendous debut to finish in 6th place just 0.5 points away from 5th in the Premier Division, very many congratulations to all the athletes who competed, team manger Sue Leyshon and all the officials on such a fantastic performance. Highlights on the day included victories for Megan Rogers 400m B (56.13) and Caryl Jones 1500m A (9.16.87). All the athletes were up against top class opposition and there were a few personal bests too. Both relay teams set all time club bests of (48.46) in the 4 x 100m with the quartet of Sian DaviesCaryl GranvilleRhiannon Jeffreys & Rebecca Williams and (3.51.68) in the 4 x 400m with the quartet of Rebecca Williams, Laura MaddoxMegan Rogers and Caryl Granville. Well done girls an excellent result. The team have given themselves every chance of survival in the league and everyone wishes them the best of luck for match 2 on June 30th at Eton. Midweek saw David Greene finish 4th in the Samsung Diamond League in Oslo, NORWAY on Thursday 7th June, David ran another top time of 48.98 in the 400m Hurdles and the race was shown live on BBC 3, well done David. Click here for the full results.

Back on Saturday 2nd June Chris Gowell ran a very impressive time of 1.48.09 for 800m in Nashville USA, Chris is studying at University in the US this time takes him to 9th in the UK rankings to date.
