Paralympic Flame Bearers

The London Paralympics start on Wednesday and the paralympic flame comes to Swansea on Tuesday and two of our disability athletes have the honor of being flame bearers as the torch travels through the city. Ashleigh Hellyer started out as a 60m and 100m sprinter, he has recently changed disciplines and now mainly competes in the shot put and the discus.His achievements include competing in the Commonwealth games in Delhi in 2010, finishing 5th and representing GB in the World Juniors in Dubai 2011. Ash has had a fantastic start to the season with a bronze medal in the Croation Open, in Zagreb in May.  He competed in the Olympic Test Event in London. This season Ash is currently 11th in the world rankings and has PB'd five times in eight competitions this year, his best being 7.60m in Berlin, which was 10cm over the London Paralympic qualifying 'A' standard, but he narrowly missed out on selection.
James Ledger has represented GB at the IBSA World Youth Games, Colorado Springs, USA in July 2011. James (ambulant long jump) with a leap of 5.77m took bronze at the UK school Games in September 2011, James other international achievements include;
