Results Afan Nedd Tawe Secondary Schools & Colleges Cross Country County Trial

Wednesday 30th January saw the Afan Nedd Tawe Secondary Schools & Colleges cross country county trial at Singleton Park, Swansea. Many congratulations to all those athletes who completed one of the UK's toughest cross country courses in particularly challenging underfoot and very windy conditions, they should take great pride in getting round in what for many was their first experience of cross country. There were 331 finishers up by over 60 from 2012 with most schools and colleges from the district having fielded athletes. A team will be now be selected from each race to represent the Afan Nedd Tawe Schools District in the Welsh Schools Cross Country Championships at Brecon on Saturday 23rd February. Special congratulations to Jac Hopkins of Bishopston who was presented with a special award from Welsh Schools as their most outstanding endurance athlete of 2012. Very well done to all those who won medals, the majority of which were club athletes, however it was the year 7 boys race where Jacob Young (Neath Harriers/Cwmtawe) who won was followed in by 13 athletes unattached to clubs unearthing much hidden talent.
