Results & Awards Round Up From Swansea, Brunel & Forres

Wednesday 14th March was the Swansea City Council annual sports awards held at the Brangwyn Hall, Swansea Harriers were shortlisted in several categories, and won plenty of much deserved awards too.
Very many congratulations too:
Dewi Griffiths – Sportsperson of the year – winner!
Kyle Rees – Junior Sportsperson of the year with a disability – runner up.
Senior Men – Senior Club Team of the year – winners!
Dai Dix – Volunteer of the year – runner up.
Joseph Brier – Junior Sportsman of the year – runner up.
Lauren Williams – Junior Sportswoman of the year – winner! It should be noted that all 3 athletes shortlisted were members of Swansea Harriers, so with Eluned King & Rhian Evans we had a pretty good chance of winning this category!
Thursday 15th March was the West Glamorgan Primary Schools Cross Country Grand Final held at Swansea University. Pupils qualified for the final by being top 3 placed individuals in one of the eight clusters league matches, or by being a member of a winning team from the eight league clusters. The top 12 pupils who crossed the line qualified to represent West Glamorgan V Dyfed Primary Schools on Thursday 21st March again at Swansea University. Our members who had great runs to make the team were:
Boys: having a great run for individual SILVER was 2nd Evan Morris (Newton); Reuben De Vall (Pen Y Fro) and Callum Jones (Lon Las).
Girls: we had two medalists having fine runs; SILVER Kaitlyn Jones (Lon Las) and BRONZE Carys Hennessey (Gowerton); joining them in the county team were 4th Sophie Hartley-Green (Newton) and 11th Annalise Cooper (Lon Las).
Wednesday 21st March West Glamorgan met Dyfed Primary schools at the inter county cross country match at Swansea University. Dyfed schools made it a clean sweep of the medals both individually and team wise. Running against tough opposition it was great to see our Swansea Harriers have great runs representing their county to place in the girls 7th Carys Hennessey (Gowerton); 8th Kaitlyn Jones (Lon Las) and 20th Sophie Hartley-Green (Newton). In the boys 13th Evan Morris (Newton), 20th Callum Jones (Lon Las) and 21st Reuben De Vall (Pen Y Fro). Meanwhile elsewhere . . . . . . back on Sunday 11th March Osaze Aghedo leap to a distance of (15.20m) in the triple jump at the Brunel Indoor Athletics jumps and throws meeting. MM55+ Ifan Lloyd placed 24th overall and won SILVER in the M55 category at the British Masters Cross Country Championships held in Forres, Scotland on Saturday 17th March, well done Ifan!
