Results Round Up

Saturday 5th January saw Dewi Griffiths gain his first Senior Great Britain vest in the Great Edinburgh Cross Country International 8km race where he helped the GB & NI team to second place overall (1st Team Europe – 154 points, 2nd Great Britain and Northern Ireland – 175 points and 3rd – USA – 211 points) Dewi had a great run against world class opposition to finish 30th (26.36), click here for the full results.

Sunday 6th January was the Welsh Athletics Indoor Open Meeting for the U13, U15 & U17 age groups in Cardiff, it was great to see so many of the clubs athletes participating some making their debut for the club. Highlights on the day included victories for Sam Martin in the U15B 1500m (5.11.1), Hannah Davies in the U13G 60m Hurdles (10.2) and High Jump (1.44m), Miles Keller-Jenkins in the U17M High Jump (1.85m) and Brynmor Clements in the U13B Shot (7.67m). Sunday 13th January was the Cardiff Metropolitan University U20 and Seniors Indoor Open Meeting incorporating the Welsh Athletics U15, U17, U20 & Senior 3000m Championships and Welsh Masters Championships. In the 3000m Championships there were medals for Alaw Beynon-Thomas in the Senior Women (9.48.71) for Gold, another Gold for Olivia Gwynn in the U17W (10.15.90) and a Silver for Joshua Griffiths in the Senior Men (8.40.64), very many congratulations to all 3. In the open meeting there was a win for Awen Rosser in the Shot (11.39m). In the Welsh Masters championships (part 1) there was a silver for Renate Prells in the shot (7.01m) and the clubs eldest member at 81 and a bit years young Hubert Daniels flew around the track in a time of (40.64) in the over 80's 200m!! Sunday 13th January was fixture 3 of the West Glamorgan Cross Country League at Margam, in the men's race Ross Simpson was the first Swansea runner home in 10th (28.38) closely followed by Eamon Kirk in 11th (28.39). In the ladies Carol Glover had a fine run to finish 2nd (33.00) and Sian Phillips was 17th (36.53).
