Saturday 7th July saw our Senior Womens team in round 2 of 3 of the UK Womens Athletics League Premier Division held at Edinburgh. After team manager Caroline did a great job also having the additional challenge of not only fielding a full team but also coordinating flights and buses all the way up to Scotland, where the team took a big step in the right direction with a 6th place finish. The team have given themselves a fighting chance against Traffod AC and Southampton AC, where any 2 of these 3 teams will be relegated in the final match of the season which Southampton are hosting. We know the Swansea team are good enough to stay up but will need their best possible team out to do so, come on girls you can do it!! At Edinburgh individual highlights included A string top 3 placings from: 2nd Hannah Brier (11.61) 100m; 2nd Olivia Caesar (54.71) 400m; 2nd Izzy Parry-Jones (2.09.96) 800m; 2nd Kate Roberts (9.56.26) 3000m; 2nd Lauren Williams (59.38) 400m Hurdles; 1st Mollie Courtney (13.66) 100m Hurdles and 2nd Carys Jones (3.30m). Saturday 7th July saw our Senior Mens team in round 3 of 4 of the British Men’s League Premier Division at Bedford. Mirroring our Ladies team the Men are up against the very best club teams in the UK and can be very proud of their achievements after three promotions in succession from the lower divisions. Unfortunately at Bedford the team placed 8th again and baring miracles look like they will be relegated in the final match of the season, nevertheless they can hold their heads up high for what they have achieved to get all the way to the top division for the first time in the clubs history and we are sure they can bounce back up next year. At Bedford individual highlights included just the one A string top 3 placings for Nathan James with an excellent throw of (64.84m) in the Javelin. Once again thanks to all the team who were at Bedford doing their very best for the club, click here for the full results and click here for the league table.
