Results Round Up and Yet More Success For Caryl Jones

Sunday 16th September saw Caryl Jones who is having a fantastic 2012 in the BUPA Great North Run at Newcastle Caryl was the 8th female overall and 3rd British athlete home up against some world class Kenyans. Caryl set a new personal best by nearly 3 minutes in a time of 71.18, this takes Caryl to 17th on the UK all time list and 2nd on the Welsh All Time list. Click here for the full results. This amazing performance has now seen her chosen to represent the Great Britain and Northern Ireland for the IAAF World Half Marathon Championships team in Kavarna BULGARIA. Caryl has set club records at 5000m (15.37.3), 10,000m (32.53.53), 2000m Steeple Chase (6.39.35) in 2012 as well as winning the Olympic Trials 10,000m and numerous off track victories and with 3 months still to go of 2012 what else can she achive? Very many congratulations on your run in Newcastle and the very best of luck from everyone at the club for the World Championships.

Also in Newcastle was Dewi Griffiths who came 35th in a seasons best of (68.40), well done Dewi.

Saturday 22nd September saw U20M Joshua Griffiths representing the Wales Senior Mens team in the Home Countries Mountain Running International at Melerby in Cumbria. Joshua finished 18th in (49.51) in the race that was uphill against some tough are more experienced competition, well done Josh on a great performance.

Sunday 23rd September was the Swansea Bay 10K, 5K, 3k and 1K races, like much of the outdoor season the wind and rain put a stop to some really fast times, however it was great to see so many club athletes out fighting the elements.

In the 10K Dewi Griffiths was our first athlete home in 6th (30.25), 59 year old Martin Rees was 34th in (33.41) and our 3rd male home was Daniel Rothwell in a personal best of (34.12). In the ladies Andrea Whitcombe was 6th in (34.17), Shan Morgan 28th in (38.29) and our 3rd lady home was Sian Kirk in 50th in a personal best of (43.52). Click here for the full results.

In the 5K junior race there were medals for Jonathan Tobin GOLD (15.54) in the boys Carwyn Evans was 4th in (18.12), and another GOLD for Lara Philippart (18.55) there was a BRONZE for Iona Evans in (21.13) and Lucy Fligelstone was 5th (26.13) in the girls. Click here for the full results.

The 3K junior race saw all 4 top places in the boys go to Swansea Harriers athletes; in his first ever race for the club brand new member Dylan Lambropoulos won GOLD in (11.11), SILVER went to Elliot Lawrence (11.24) and BRONZE to Joshua Green (11.46). In the girls Bethan Harris won GOLD in (12.05), Ffion Jenkins was 5th in (12.50) and Eira James 12th in (13.37) . Click here for the full results.

In the 1K junior race there were no medals for the boys but Nathan Jones came close in 4th followed by, Ieuan Hosgood in 8th and Joshua Tilley in 10th. However in the girls in was a one two with Eluned King in GOLD (3.57) and Lily Murphy in SILVER (4.11) our 3rd athlete home was Bronwen Stratton-Thomas in 5th. Click here for the full results.
