Results Round Up From Bedford, Brecon & Elsewhere

The weekend of Saturday 26th & Sunday 27th August were the U15 & U17 England Athletics Championships held at Bedford. There are tough entry standards to participate in the first place, so just making it to Bedford is an achievement and it is also an opportunity to compete against the very best juniors in the UK. 4 of our juniors qualified and then entered this year where U17M Tomos Slade came closest to a medal in the 100m Hurdles placing 4th in a lifetime best of (13.33) after running another lifetime best of (13.21) in his heat; U15G Jamie Holland was 11th in the Shot (10.61m) and equalled this placing with 11th in the Javelin (32.85m) too; U15G Holly Cooper was also very close to a medal placing 5th in the Discus (31.30m) and U17W Lara Spacey was 17th in the Hammer (47.17m). Very many congratulations to all 4 on such a great set of performances, click here for the full results.
Saturday 26th August was the Welsh Inter Regional Championships for the U15, U17 & U20/Senior age groups held at sunny Brecon. Plenty of Swansea Harriers were selected for the team and did a great job in helping the region comfortably retain the title they won in 2016. Well done to all those selected on such a great result, highlights included overall winning performances from:

Meanwhile elsewhere . . . . . . Double apologies to U13B William Trott who has broken his own and the U13B club record twice this season and we’ve only just noticed! William vaulted to (2.80m) on the 26th April in Swansea and just 2 weeks ago in the Welsh Championships at Wrexham where he competed up an age group as an U15B, well done William! SM Guy Smith sets a life time best for 3000m at Stretford (8.15.29) and at the same meeting SW Verity Ockenden over 10,000m (33.23.31) on 19th August. At Exeter on 29th August lifetime bests were set by SW Vicky Jackson (4.55.98) 1500m and U13G Tiffany Rees (4.58.55) 1500m.
