Results Round Up From Bedford, Cardiff, Brussels & Exeter

The weekend of Saturday 31st August and Sunday 1st September saw the UK U15 & U17 Championships held at Bedford. It was fantastic to see five Swansea Harriers obtain the tough entry criteria and then make the effort to make the long trip to compete against the UK’s top juniors.
Here is how they all got on; U15B Joshua Aka (11.81) 100m for 6th in his heat; U17M Thomas Payne progressed to 5th in his semi final (22.24); U17M Owain Clarke was 6th in his 400m Hurdles heat (59.90); the main highlight of the weekend was a GOLD medal winning leap by U15B William Trott in the pole vault clearing (3.91m) well done William! and U17W Jamie Holland was 16th in the Shot (11.32m). Sunday 1st September was the Cardiff 10km where our top five men and women home were:
Men; 12th Marc Hobbs (31.21); 16th Matthew Rees (31.43); 35th Owen Haswell (33.49); John Breslin (35.19) and 123rd James Dean (36.23), with Matthew, Owen & John all recording lifetime bests!
Women: 15th Alaw Beynon-Thomas (37.24); 16th Rachel Davies (37.36); 24th Gemma Seaman (39.03)***; 33rd Llinos Jones (39.59) and 76th Julie Hartley-Green (44.32), with Gemma and Julie setting lifetime bests!

At the Belgian Athletics Championships David Greene comes agonisingly close to the qualifying standard for the World Athletics Championships in the 400m Hurdles placing 1st in (49.49) just (0.19) away on Sunday 1st September.
Meanwhile elsewhere……. U20M Kaya Cairney runs (59.87) for 400m Hurdles at Exeter.
