Results Round Up From Birmingham & Cardiff

Saturday 2nd September was a great day for the club where our U13 & U15 team finished a magnificent 5th in the Youth Development League Grand Final against the top 8 junior club teams in the UK, one place higher than last year! (4th next year?!). Everyone at the club is immensely proud of what the athletes have achieved along with their coaches and team managers, and all those who represented the club in the league qualifying fixtures who weren't in the team at Birmingham. In a great days competition against some really extra tough and different opposition the team were placed as high as 2nd at one point during the day.

Sunday 3rd September was the Cardiff 10K, despite the miserable weather there was still a great turnout and plenty of fast times set by Swansea Harriers. The fastest of all being Dewi Griffiths who had superb run to win the race in (28.47) more than a minute ahead of his nearest rival. Dewi was followed across the line by Phil Matthews (31.02) having a great run for 10th; in 17th Marc Hobbs (32.04); 20th Matthew Harvey (32.18) and a lifetime best and another lifetime best for 25th James Dean (32.48) making up our top 5 men. In the ladies our first 5 runners home were 64th Caryl Jones (35.18) and 5th lady overall; Alaw Beynon-Thomas (35.47) which was a lifetime best and 7th lady overall; 201st Sarah Worley (39.35) and a lifetime best too; 258th Sian Kirk (41.00) and 589th Christine Webb (46.08) and another lifetime best!
