Results Round Up From Brecon, Armagh, Sheffield, Birmingham & Elsewhere

Wednesday 13th February were the Welsh Schools and Colleges cross country championships held at warm and sunny Brecon. It was great to see so many Swansea Harriers selected for their school districts. The main highlight was a podium place for U17W Ashleigh Willis as a result of which she gained automatic selection for the Welsh Schools team to compete in the British Schools Cross Country International later this month. Our first three athletes home in all other races were:
U20M 11th Dafyd Jay and 26th William Arnold.
U17M No runners.
U17W 3rd Ashleigh Willis; 13th Daisy Thompson and 65th Eve Bevan.
U15B 16th Aled Tumelty; 39th Tom Attwood and 63rd Dafydd King.
U15G 15th Mai Davies; 59th Chloe Simmonite and 67th Hannah Shepard.
U13B 59th Jack Gilbert.

Thursday 14th February were the very fast and competitive 5km Armagh International Road races in Ireland. Seven of our senior men made the trip across the water, with our top three home as follows; 37th Guy Smith (14.27); 41st Brian Maher (14.27) and 100th Marc Hobbs (14.55) all getting well under the magic 15 minute mark. Friday 15th February to Sunday 17th February were the British Universities Indoor Athletics Championships held at Sheffield. It was pleasing to see so many of our U20 & U23 members taking part, overall top performers in each event were:
 
Men: 60m Joe Jones (7.90); 200m Ben Paris (21.79); 400m Rhodri Williams (51.12); 3000m Conor Smith (8.43.54); Long Jump Michael Thompson (6.14m) and Triple Jump Osaze Aghedo (15.03m) and a BRONZE medal!
 
Women: 400m Lucy Fligelstone (62.61); 3000m Abigayle Goodrick-Latham (10.59.70); 60m Hurdles Ogubemi Popo (9.44); Pole Vault Carys Jones (3.70m) and a BRONZE medal!; Long Jump Sophie Hutchinson (3.94m) and Triple Jump Macey Jones (10.80m).
 
Saturday 16th February live on the BBC was the British Athletics Muller Grand Prix at Birmingham where Hannah Brier had a superb run against the worlds very best sprinters to place 7th in her 60m heat in a time of (7.45), well done Hannah.
 
Sunday 17th February again at Birmingham were the city of Birmingham Games where SM Daniel Beadsley recorded the fastest 60m of all age groups in (6.92) and in the Womens sprints our top performer was U20W Gabrielle Fakande (7.88) 60m & (24.94) 200m. 
 
Meanwhile elsewhere M50 Matt Kinane runs (2.13.25) for 800m in Stockholm, Sweden and daughter Hannah runs (28.05) 200m and (2.24.19) 800m. In the Seville, Spain Marathon Raul Reismann finishes in (2.59.21) and Drew Bartle (3.07.02). In Tregaron West Wales Rob Flaconer places 39th in the Ras Cors Caron Half Marathon in (1.39.28).
