Results Round Up From Brecon, Newport, Dublin, Cork, Loughborough & Stretford

Saturday 22nd July was the 4th and final round of the Welsh U11, U13 & U15 Junior League West Division at Brecon. Despite a very depleted team due to holiday in terms of overall numbers, they still managed to win the match and retain their West Division League title! Our thanks to all those athletes who traveled to Brecon to support their club, all of whom did several events each in an attempt to cover as many events as possible. The team now travel to Newport to compete in the Welsh league Cup Final on Sunday 6th August where they will be up against the top teams from this league and the East Division to decide who will become overall Welsh League Champions. The very best of luck to those that make the team. At Brecon highlights included overall winning performances from:

Fulfilled potential: Sunday 23rd July was the Youth Development U17 & U20 League South West UK Upper Age Group Promotion Match at Newport, to decide which three teams would go into the Premier Division next season. The day was a mix of euphoria and frustration. The team was magnificent having a comfortable win and showing what a great team they are in terms of numbers as well as talent, however it was also frustrating as if they’d turned out like this all season they would have been challenging for a place in the UK main final not a relegation battle! Our sincere thanks to all those athletes, team managers, coaches and officials who mucked in together to produce this great result. At Newport highlights included overall winning performances from:
U20M Elliot Lawrence (2.03.63) 800m; Dominic Smith (4.22.50) 1500m & (9.34.83) 3000m; Rhys Harris (15.43) 110m Hurdles & (58.21) 400m Hurdles; Ieuan Hosgood (3.85m) Pole Vault; Nathan James (55.46m) Javelin and Joe Crosby, Steffan Jones, Rhys Harris & Osaze Aghedo (45.42) 4 x 100m;

Meanwhile elsewhere . . . . . SM Dewi Griffiths has been in fine form setting two lifetime bests for 5000m on Wednesday 12th July at Dublin in the Morton Games, Dewis magnificent time of (13.33.6) was only good enough for 5th in a world class field. Then a few days later on Tuesday 18th July he set another lightning quick time of (7.55.65) for 7th over 3000m in another top class field in Cork. Well done Dewi! SW Caryl Granville once again breaks her own all time club record for 400m Hurdles setting a time of (56.59) at Loughborough on Saturday 22nd July finishing 5th in her race. Also present was U20W Lauren Williams winning her 400m Hurdles race in (60.11). Tuesday 25th July at Stretford was the British Milers Club where Johnathan Tobin ran (1.55.62) in the 800m, older brother Paul Tobin was a few hundreths quicker in his 800m (1.55.55); in the 1500m Guy Smith ran (3.47.81) and just behind but in a lifetime best was Jack Gooch (3.48.31)
