The 30th British-Irish Masters Cross Country International took place on Saturday 18th November, on the outskirts of Derry, Northern Ireland. There were 8 Swansea Harriers that made it to the start line in a Welsh vest, to run a flat yet technical course, with plenty of rain from the previous days to give some soft ground and muddy conditions.
Our international athletes were: for the women, Helen Marshall (VF35), Helen-Marie Davies (VF40), Diane Brownhill (VF45), and Sian Phillips (VF55); for the men, there were Jos Jones (VM40), Paul Flynn (technically VM50, but asked to run in the VM40 team), Eamonn Kirk (VM45) and Ifan Lloyd (VM55). All enjoyed a good run, but the standout performance was by Ifan Lloyd, who secured his 3rd individual bronze. Very many congratulation to them all on some much deserved International vests, click here for the full results.
The 31st International is due to take place in November 2018, in our very own Singleton Park. We are hoping for further representation by Swansea Harriers next year, a strong Welsh squad, and excellent local support!
