Results Round Up From Cardiff, Aberavon, Wrexham, Lexip, Leigh & Hendon

Wednesday 5th June was the Welsh Athletics sprints only open meeting at Cardiff, where our top performer in each age group was as follows:
100m U17M Sam Petherbridge (11.41); U20M Steffan Jones (10.97); SM Daniel Beadsley (10.63); U20W Isabel Davies (13.02) and SW Katie-Jane Priest (12.49).
200m: U17M Thomas Payne (22.28); U20M Steffan Jones (22.47) and SM Rhodri Williams (22.77).
 
Wednesday 5th June was the 2nd Run 4 All 5km road race at Aberavon where we had just the three runners; Men: 11th Gabrielius Stuokus (18.37) and 24th David Lamb (19.42) and in the women there was a fantastic win for Nina Brocklebank (21.28).
 
Wednesday 5th June two of our Masters made the very long journey to Wrexham for round 3 of the Masters League. MM60+ Chris Pruski & MM60+ Roderick Davies kept themselves very busy competing in several events each, Chris set a PB in the 100m (16.6) and Rodericks best result came with a seasons best in the 200m (14.5). Whilst our off track masters athletes are booming in terms of numbers, our track & field numbers are not quite as high, why not come along to a club night and give it a go?
 
Saturday 8th June SW Hannah Brier and SM Leon Greenwood competed in the Irish Milers Open in Lexip Ireland, Leon ran 2 quick but wind assisted times of (10.42) 100m & (21.04) 200m, whilst Hannah had a wind assisted (11.52) 100m too.
 
Sunday 9th June was round 2 of 4 in Division 1 of the British Mens League at Leigh. In round 1 the team had a great result to place 2nd, this time it was a sixth place finish. Individually highlights included a very, very quick (46.85) 400m from Joseph Brier winning the A string; U20M Steffan Jones stepped up an age group to win the B 400m (49.07); it was great to see Dewi Griffiths on the track preparing for some big championship races over the much longer 10km and Marathon distances for Great Britain later this year; Daniel Rothwell ran a lifetime best of (9.17.04) for the 3000m steeplechase placing 3rd; Patrick Swan and Jack Houghton both did 3 events each for their team and plenty of others doubled up in events too so that a full team could be fielded all showing great team spirit. Sunday 9th June was round 1 of 3 in Division 1 of the UK Womens League at Allianz Park, London. After a long journey the team produced a solid performance to place 6th in a closely fought match. Highlights included a double in the 3000m winning the A string Sophie Harris (9.30.87) and B String Kate Roberts (10.20.29); there were two top threes in the 400m A string 3rd Lauren Williams (55.8) and B string 2nd Caryl Granville (57.02) team captain Caryl also hauled in a lot more points in the 100m Hurdles A string in 2nd (13.94) and 400m Hurdles B string 1st (58.71) in the A string Bethany Kennedy was 2nd in (58.31). As for the mens match there was great team spirit shown with most athletes competing in at least two events each. Meanwhile elsewhere SM Paul Tobin runs (1.54.62) 800m and SM Conor Smith (8.38.86) 3000m both at Birmingham on 5th June.
