Results Round Up From Cardiff, Newport, Sheffield, Manchester & Austria

Saturday 28th January was the Welsh Senior Indoor Athletics Championships at Cardiff, not quite so many of our seniors entered this year, however what we lacked in quantity we more than made for in quality, all those that did make it performed excellently. The championships also incorporated some junior championship events. Highlights included medal winning performances from:
4 GOLD Joseph Brier (48.96) 400m; Rhys Granville (4.14.17) 1500m; Sian Swanson (11.31m) Triple Jump and Osaze Aghedo (15.13m) Triple Jump. Osaze set a new lifetime best in excess of the club records for U20 & Seniors, however he will need to replicate this outdoors for it officially break the records, which we are sure he can.
5 SILVER U17W Josie Sivak (11.52m) Shot and a lifetime best; Glyn Price (3.95m) Pole Vault; Katie-Jane Priest (25.39) 200m; Lauren Williams (58.47) 400m and Verity Ockenden (4.32.18) 1500m.
4 BRONZE U17W Amber Evans (43.10) 300m; Ioan Jenkins (1.80m) High Jump; Mia Evans (9.18) 60m Hurdles in a lifetime best, and Sian Swanson (5.34m) Long Jump.

Meanwhile elsewhere; Sunday 29th January was the Lliswerry 8 Mile Road Race at Newport, where there was a fine win for Marc Hobbs nearly 2 minutes ahead of his nearest rival. Daniel Beadsley runs (22.62) over 200m in Sheffield; Laura Maddox runs (53.37) over 400m in Vienna, AUSTRIA and Olivia Caesar also over 400m but in Sheffield runs (55.41). Elinor Kirk wins the 3000m at Manchester in a life time best of (9.00.59) as the indoor rankings evolve this bound to keep her near the very top of the pile in the UK!
