Results Round Up From Cardiff, World Masters Malaga & Elsewhere

Sunday 2nd September was the Cardiff 10K where the club were out in force with 19 finishers among the 6000+ who started the race. In the mens race there was a fine win for Dewi Griffiths retaining his 2017 title in a time of (29.10) well done Dewi, making up our top five men were 12th Phil Matthews (31.29); 23rd Matthew Rees (32.12) in a lifetime best; 58th James Dean (34.46) and 90th Eamonn Kirk (36.09).
In the womens race Alaw Beynon-Thomas just missed out on a podium place in 5th (36.25); following her across the line were 15th Llinos Jones (39.35); 26th Sharon Leech (41.05); Luticia Thomas (41.45) and making up our top 5 ladies 59th Nina Brocklebank (44.59). At the World Masters Athletics Championships in Malaga, Spain, there was an awesome SILVER for club stalwart M50+ John Owen in the Hammer with a throw of (40.44m), well done John! Also in sunny Spain was another M50 Paul Flynn who placed 53rd in the 10km road race in (41.05) and 28th in an 8km cross country winning a team BRONZE for the GB& NI team. Congratulations to both competing against the very best Masters athletes in the World.
Meanwhile elsewhere . . . . . SM Joshua Griffiths runs a personal best for 10 miles at (49.41) in Dublin Ireland. SM Wyn Roberts runs (11.1) for 100m at Southampton. SM Matthew Rees runs (1.12.09) for an excellent 25th at the Great North Run along with one other runner from the cub SW Louise Draycott (2.09.36).  SM Kristian Jones runs a quick (29.56) also over 10km in Stirling to win the Scottish 10km road race championships, well done Kristian!
