Results Round Up From Cheltenham, Caerphilly, Bedford & Watford

Sunday 18th June in hot and sunny Cheltenham the U13 & U15 team did a great job in ensuring they progressed to the Youth Development league area final in style, by placing 2nd on the day and finished on  top of the league overall. However all scores are now reset to zero for the Midlands area final on Saturday 15th July at Cardiff where they will be up against the top 6 Midlands clubs to see if they can progress one step further to the UK National Finals. Our thanks and congratulations to all those athletes that represented the team over the 3 qualifying league matches. Sunday 18th June in the 30 degree heat was the Caerphilly 10K where Phil Matthews had a great run to place 5th overall in (33.44) and he was followed across the line by Alaw Beynon-Thomas having a superb run as 2nd female overall (37.33); Sian Kirk was 5th female (43.49) and Sian Phillips 4th MF55 (49.22). Saturday 17th & Sunday 18th June were the England Athletics U20 & U23 Championships held at Bedford. It was most pleasing to see 10 Swansea Harriers athletes competing at the highest level for juniors in the UK domestic season. U23M Daniel Beadsley progressed to the 100m semi final placing 6th in (10.72) and 6th in his 200m heat (22.03); U23W Katie Jane-Priest finished 6th in her 100m heat (12.45); U20M Joseph Brier made it all the way to the 400m final placing 6th (48.34); there was an awesome BRONZE medal for U23W Olivia Caesar in the 400m (54.49); U23M Jonathan Tobin placed 7th in his 1500m heat (3.50.44); U20W Cari Hughes was 4th in the 3000m (9.48.08); Rhys Harris made it to the 400m Hurdles final placing 5th (56.10); U23W Bethany Close was 6th in the 400m Hurdles in a time of (61.80); U23W Jade Brewster just missed out an a medal on count back in the Pole Vault, vaulting (3.65m); U20M Osaze Aghedo was 5th in the Triple Jump (14.63m) and finally U23M Connor Laverty placed 10th in the Discus (41.44m). Wednesday 14th June Verity Ockeden sets a time of (4.13.75) over 1500m which was a lifetime best at Watford.
