Results Round Up: David Greene at the British Athletics International, Welsh U13, U17 & Senior Indoor Championships & Lliswerry 8 mile road race

The weekend of Saturday 26th & Sunday 27th January saw the U13, U17 & Senior Indoor Athletics Welsh Championships at Cardiff. The club had another successful weekend with lots of athletes gaining personal bests and some great experiences competing and watching some top class seniors in action. The athletes came away with a haul of 12 Gold, 9 Silver and 9 Bronze medals!

12 GOLDS: U13G Hannah Davies did the double winning the High Jump (1.40m) and 60m Hurdles (10.05) her hurdles time was a championship record, U13G Katie Roberts (9.28m) Shot, brand new member U17M Sion Roberts (22.91) 200m, U17M Miles Keller-Jenkins (1.95m) High Jump, U17M Josh Hollisey-McLean (3.70m) Pole Vault, U17W Hannah Brier (7.64) 60m which was also a championship best performance, U17W Erin Walters (5.29m) Long Jump, U17W Caitlin Atkins (3.05m) Pole Vault, U17W Ffion Walters (9.54m) Triple Jump, SW Alaw Beynon-Thomas (4.39.25) 1500m and SW Naomi James (3.35m) Pole Vault.

9 SILVERS: U13B Tristan James (1.25m) High Jump, U13B Brynmor Clements (8.15m) Shot, U13G Yana Parry (10.23) 60m Hurdles, U17M Sion Roberts (7.18) 60m, U17M Michael Wilson (8.33) 60m Hurdles Michael had a fantastic run to break the championship record too however he was unlucky as this only gained him Silver, U17W Hannah Brier (25.30) 200m, U17W Tilly Davies (8.95m) Triple Jump, SW Catrin Jones (1.65m) High Jump and SW Donna Jones (11.30m) Triple Jump.

9 BRONZES: U13B Tomos Slade (10.56) 60m Hurdles & (1.25m) High Jump, U17M Keiran Ingram (1.70m) High Jump, U17M Ben Turner (2.30m) Pole Vault, U17W Emily Cockrill (10.14m) Shot, U20W Iona Evans (4.23.82) 1300m unfortunately for Iona the bell was rung 1 lap early when it looked like she was on course for a personal best in the 1500m, SW Sian Swanson (1.60m) High Jump & (10.77m) Triple Jump and SW Donna Jones (5.22m) Long Jump.

Iona wasn't the only club member running an unusual distance on the weekend; Saturday 26th January saw the British Athletics International Match at the Emirates Arena in Glasgow where club super star David Greene set an all time British Record in the rarely run 600m, his time of (1.16.22) was an incredible performance for 2nd place just ahead of fellow Olympian Andrew Osagie, well done David on such a great run, click here for the full results.

Sunday 27th January our road runners were in action at the Lliswerry 8 mile road race at Newport, our first 3 runners home were Phil Matthews who had a great run to win comfortably in a time of (40.49), Steve Davies was 11th (43.31) and Matthew Gurmin 21st in (45.16), well done all, click here for the full results.
