Results Round Up From Falkirk, Aberavon & Swansea

Saturday 19th March was the British Schools U15 & U17 cross country international and the U20 & Seniors Home Countries International V England V Scotland V Ireland which were both held at Callendar Park, Falkirk, Scotland. It was awsome to see 9 athletes from one club, a fine achievement represent Wales and across the races, where the all performed excellently against the UK's top endurance juniors.
U15G Eluned King (YG Gwyr), U15G Caitlin Gwyther (YG Gwyr), U15G Mollie Jones (Sandfields); Nathan Jones (U15B Bishopston); U17M Dominic Smith (Olchfa); U17M Elliot Lawrence (St Josephs); U20W Bethan Harris (Gower College); U20M Robin Harris (Olchfa) and Lara Philippart  now in university representing the Welsh Athletics U20 team.
Nathan Jones (15th) was in the U15B team that claimed the SILVER team medals with a score of 83 points. The U17M team only just missed out on second place. They tied on 102 with Scotland with Dominic finishing (10th) and Elliot (23rd) for team BRONZE. The U15G were the other squad to claim BRONZE medals with Eluned (10th); Caitlin (16th) and Mollie (25th), the squad's 102 points total placed them ahead of Ireland (117). In the combined U20 and Schools races Bethan finished (31st) and Lara (35th), unfortunately Robin was too unwell to finish his race.
 
Saturday 19th March was 360 Beach Club, Marina 5K at Swansea there was a one two for brand new club members Jack Gooch (14.58) and Danal Desta (14.59) in a sprint finish for the line; Sian Edwards made it a double victory for Swansea Harriers winning the ladies race (18.17)!! Stephen Richards 23rd (19.14); Simon Brewer 25th (19.32) and Martin Slucutt 38th (20.59) made our top 5 men. In the ladies Penny Kennedy was 63rd in (22.51) and Vanessa Harragan (22.32) in 72nd. Sunday 20th March was the 5th and final round of the West Glamorgan Cross Country League on the beach at Aberavon, extra special mention must go to club stalwart Marc Hobbs on winning the mens race and completing the first ever five wins in a West Glam League season!! Marc was followed home by Matthew Harvey (3rd); Eamonn Kirk (9th); Paul Flynn (20th) and Mike Gleeson (26th) making our top 5 men across the line. In the ladies our top 5 were: Helen Marshall having another great run for 2nd; closely followed by Helen-Marie Davies (3rd); Angela Delaney (26th); Vanessa Harragan (28th) and Penny Kennedy (29th). Very well done to them all. Final league tables aren't available yet but its a fair assumption that league places have probably remained unchanged with the men winning teh league and the ladies runners up!
