Results Round Up From Liverpool, Brecon & Kenfig

Saturday 26th November was the British Athletics Cross Challenge at Liverpool incorporating the European Cross Country Championships Trials, and there were some excellent performances. 
In the seniors our men and women teams were trying to win the team element to progress to the European clubs championships, but just missed out to the Aldershot, Farnham & District club from England. Nevertheless there was a great set of results where most of the UK’s top endurance runners were in action.
Senior men, first home was 5th Dewi Griffiths, who will have his fingers and toes crossed to see if he’s impressed the GB selectors to gain yet another GB vest; Dewi was followed home by: 15th  Kristian Jones; 53rd Jonathan Hopkins; 68th Marc Hobbs; 89th Jack Gooch; 93rd Johnathan Tobin and 179th James Dean.
In the Senior women in 15th was Elinor Kirk having a great run; 20th Verity Ockenden; 76th Kate Roberts and 83rd  Alaw Beynon-Thomas.
Just three of our juniors were running and all three ran superbly well too; U17M 10th  Dominic Smith; U17M 16th Elliot Lawrence and U15B 9th Nathan Jones.
 
The rest of our juniors were in Brecon on Saturday 26th November representing their school teams in the 40th Welsh Inter Schools and Colleges Championships. In perfect weather conditions there were many great runs, highlights included the first five home in each race being:
U17&U20M 17th Martin Powell (Bishopston) and 22nd Francis Lewis (Olchfa).
U15B 38th William Arnold.
U13B 31st Noah Osborne (Morriston), 48th Elliot Harris (Bishopston), 60th Ieuan Davies (Gwyr) and 66th Sam Griffiths (Ystalyfera)
Year 6B 8th Dafydd King (Bryn Y Mor); 14th Conor O'Shaughnessy (St Thomas); 17th Luke Hopkins (Bryniago) and 18th William Evans (Crwys).
Year 5B 12th Charlie Shuall (Pennard); 18th Sonny Parkhouse (Tirdenaw) and 20th Louis Shuall (Pennard).
U17&U20W 15th Bethan Harris (Gower College).
U15G it was a fantastic set of results with a clean sweep of the podium places for 1st Caitlin Gwyther (Gwyr); 2nd Eluned King (Gwyr); 3rd Ashleigh Willis (Olchfa) and 11th Darcie Bass (Penyrheol) and 12th Beth Thomas (Olchfa).
U13G 10th Tiffany Rees (Olchfa); 11th Ella Davies (Gwyr); 21st Nia Bailey-Jones (Bishopston); 60th Ffion Hennessey (Gowerton) and 68th Lydia Cairns-Johnston (Gwyr).
 
Sunday 27th November was round 3 of 5 in the seniors West Glamorgan Cross Country League at Kenfig Nature reserve, held over a rarely run and very challenging multi terrain course there was another massive entry of this ever popular league of over 300 athletes with Swansea runners out in force amongst them too. It was a one-two in the Senior Men with Matt Rees having a great run to finish 1st; Ian Harris was not too far behind in 2nd; 14th Thomas Guest; 15th Will Munday and 16th Eamonn Kirk.
In the ladies all the scoring athletes ran excellently to finish in the top ten, with a comfortable win for 1st Victoria Jackson; 2nd Helen Marshall; 4th Helen-Marie Davies; 7th Rebecca Bennett and 8th Sarah Worley.
