Results Round Up From Llandridnod Wells, Tillburg HOLLAND, Merthyr Mawr & Telford

Saturday 8th December were the Welsh Inter Regional Cross Country Championships held at Llandridnod Wells, over a technical course, in difficult underfoot as well as weather conditions the club were well represented in most age categories with all but one running for the West Wales region. Highlights included:
U11G BRONZE Chloe Hartley-Green and 5th Chloe Lewis.
U11B no runners.
 
U13G team SILVER with 7th Mai Davies and 51st Kaitlyn Jones in the scoring eight.
U13B team SILVER with 29th Mathew Lewis just one place outside the scoring eight.
 
U15G no team medal but Ella Davies was home first in 11th with just one place behind 12th Daisy Thompson
U15B team GOLD with 20th Iwan White and 30th Aled Tumelty in the scoring eight.
 
U17W no team medal but Ashleigh Willis won a fine individual BRONZE and Beth Thomas finished in the top 10 in 8th.
U17M team BRONZE with double success for Nathan Jones with individual SILVER, Dafyd Jay had a great run for 9th for the South Wales region.
 
U20W no runners.
U20M team GOLD with individual GOLD for Dominic Smith and SILVER for Elliot Lawrence both having superb runs.
 
SM team BRONZE however none of the scoring eight were from Swansea; John Moran was our first finisher in 54th.
MM35+ team BRONZE however none of the scoring five were from Swansea; Daniel Otteson was our first finisher in 59th.
MM45+ team SILVER with 74th Martyn Hughes-Dowdle finishing in the scoring five.
MM55+ team GOLD with 61st Ifan Lloyd winning individual SILVER; 78th Thomas Guest  and 134th Rob Falconer also in the scoring five.
 
SW team SILVER with a fine individual GOLD for Alaw Beynon-Thomas; with 10th Abigayle Goodrick-Latham; 14th Jemima Osborn and 24th Sian Kirk all in the scoring eight.
MW35+ team BRONZE with another individual GOLD for Helen Marshall who was 2nd overall too!; and 94th Jenny Mcadie part of the scoring five.
MW45+ no team medal however 105th Angela Delaney was our first runner home and in the scoring five.
MW55+ no runners.

Sunday 9th December in what was undoubtably the main highlight of the weeks athletics, was seeing the fantastic four selected to represent Great Britain & Northern Ireland in the European cross country championships at Tillburg HOLLAND.
First up was U20W Cari Hughes taking team GOLD ahead of the Netherlands and Turkey, Cari was the 4th British scorer in 13th overall.
Next was SW Verity Ockeden taking team SILVER between the Netherlands in gold and Germany in bronze, Verity was the 6th finisher for GB&NI in 20th overall.
Finally after being called into the team with just a couple of days notice taking team SILVER Kristian Jones was the 2nd scorer for the GB&NI team in 12th overall, just 3 seconds behind in 13th was Dewi Griffiths.
Very many congratulations to all four, having so many athletes from one club in a GB&NI team is spectacular. It was great to see them testing themselves against the vey best cross country athletes in Europe, and to cap it all off everyone of them came away with a medal! Sunday 9th December at the Methyr Mawr 10km Multi terrain race, including some very steep sand dunes 10 of our members tested themselves over a very tough course. Our first three Men and Women home were;
Men 8th place for Ifan Lloyd; 171st Andrew Downie and 211th Tom Bacon.
Women: It was a fantastic clean sweep of the podium places, your race winner was Sian Edwards, runner up Helen Marshall and 3rd Sharon Leech!!!
