Results Round Up From Llanelli, Swansea, Cardiff, Bath, London & More plus 2018 Gold Award Standards

Wednesday 18th April was round 1 of 3 in the U11 & U13 Triangular series held at Llanelli. The team went in as defending champions and carried on where they left off last year with a fine victory. It was great to see such a large turnout from our juniors in this great initiative for them with unlimited entries allowed by the clubs. Saturday 21st April was round 1 of 3 in the Youth Development League Midlands Premier South West Division at home in Swansea. As for the triangular match the team got their campaign off to a great start by winning the match. Again our thanks to all the volunteers from all 6 clubs that made the meeting possible. Sunday 22nd April was round 1 of 4 in the Welsh U17, U20 & Senior League at Cardiff. Swansea Harriers are defending champions and got their league campaign off to a superb start just like our U11, U13 & U15 athletes, winning the first round. Sunday 22nd April was the London Marathon and London mini Marathon. In 2017 Swansea Harriers was trending world wide on twitter after Joshua Griffiths being the first British athlete home and Matthew Rees helping David Wyeth across the finish line! This year Matthew and David were once again reunited and both finished the course unaided! In the main marathon our first 5 Men and 4 Women home performing excellently in the very hot conditions were:
Men 222nd Matthew Harvey (2.43.06); 300th Charles Davis (2.46.49) and a PB!; 338th Matthew Rees (2.47.55); 2333rd Mike Evans (3.15.40) and 4013th Charles Walsh (3.31.30). 
Women our most successful senior athlete in London placing extremely highly was 61st Rachel Davies (3.04.36); 535th Diane Brownhill (3.31.17); 1665th Christine Webb (3.52.51) and 4895th Sarah Worley (4.36.06).
 
In the London Mini Marathon run over the last 3 miles of the main marathon route the club just had the two juniors selected for Welsh Schools International Team this year with U15G Ashleigh Willis (Olchfa) placing 33rd in (18.16) and U17W Eluned King (Gwyr) placing 47th in (18.43), very many congratulations to both girls on their much deserved international call ups. Saturday 21st April SM Callum Davies runs (10.8) over 100m at Kettering. SW Chari Hawkins runs (13.77) over the 100m Hurdles and throws (12.16m) in the Shot at Yeovil.
