Results Round Up From London, Dublin & Newport

Without doubt the main highlight this week was on Sunday 6th August where Joshua Griffiths finished 39th (2.20.06) representing Great Britain and Northern Ireland in the Marathon at the IAAF World Athletics Championships at London. Josh was quite literally up against the very best athletes in the world, and can be extremely proud of this fine achievement as everyone at the club was too. His time was a little off his London Marathon time but the course was quite twisty. This was an experience he'll never forget, very many congratulations Josh you were superb. It is great to see our volunteers officiating at the highest level and both also regularly support the club at home and away matches across all age groups at grassroots level too, well done both!

Saturday 5th August saw 4 other Swansea Harriers pick up international vests at the U16 & U18 Celtic Games in Dublin Ireland. Sunday 6th August was the Welsh U11 U13 & U15 Cup Final at Newport to decide the Welsh Junior League overall champions for 2017. Despite the usual unavailability due to school holidays, the team performed admirably to place 3rd on the day in a very closely fought match. With a handful more athletes to help cover all the events where there were gaps, the final result may have been different.
