Results Round Up From Loughborough, Llanelli, Cwmbran, Cardiff, Brecon & Elsewhere

Saturday 7th March was the UK Inter Counties Cross Country Championships incorporating the final fixture of the British Cross Challenge Series at Loughborough. It was a tough course underfoot and equally tough opposition with most of the UK top cross country runners participating. It was great to see ten Swansea Harriers make the West Wales team, and here is how they all got on;
 
Senior Men 259th Edward Cullen and 286th Daniel Morgan.
 
Senior Women: 256th Angela Delaney and 257th Tina Gabb.
 
U17M 264th Miles Hill
 
U15B 130th Aled Tumelty
 
U13G 165th Sophie Hartley-Green; 170th Ava Davies; 247th Kaitlyn Jones & 279th Chloe Lewis.
 
 
Sunday 8th March was the Llanelli Half Marathon held in wet and windy conditions, personal bests were hard to come by; nevertheless there was a fine win for Dewi Griffiths finishing in (66.52) who was followed home by a podium place in 3rd for Matthew Rees (71.04); 25th Craig Jones (79.44); 39th Paul Flynn (82.51) and 48th Sam Joseph to complete our top five Men.
 
In the womens race our top five were; a podium 3rd for Rachel Davies (83.36); 4th Llinos Jones (85.35); 5th Luticia Thomas (89.17); 15th Christine Webb (98.44) and 26th Julie Hartley-Green (1.41.51).

Sunday 8th March was the Welsh Schools Sports Hall Athletics Finals held at Cwmbran. Swansea Harriers were well represented amongst the Afan Nedd Tawe Schools District teams, where three of the four age groups medalled, and for the second year in a row the U13G placed second just missing out by a few points to progress to the UK final in Sheffield. Highlights included:
 
U15B Joseph Beresford was our top scoring individual placing 14th and helping the team to 5th with team Swansea Harriers team mates; Jeremy Andrews, Evan Cole, Tesfaye Shugi, Daniel Erdei & Joseff Lewis.
 
U15G Megan Gwyther finished joint second individually just missing out on representing Wales as an individual at Sheffield. The team won BRONZE that included Swansea Harriers; Bethany Morgan; Emily Jones & Katie Lake.
 
U13B also won BRONZE with Harry Collins our top scorer with Reuben De Vall, Dylan Stapley, Ewan Clark, Ioan Ng; Lewie Jones, Nevin Balog and Reuben Williams all part of the team.
 
U13G won SILVER with Matilda Quick our top scorer; Betahn Holley, Chloe Lewis; Efa Williams; Liane Do Rouys; Kaitlyn Jones; Miriam Brown & Zoe Strevens all part of the top team!
 
 
Sunday 8th March was Vault Cardiff where the club was once again very well represented with almost 20 club members participating. Highlights included our overall top vaulter in each age group as follows:
 
SM Fynley Caudery (4.72m); U20M Ieuan Hosgood (4.32m); U17M William Trott (3.92m); U15B Dafydd King & Harry Newton both (2.82m); U13B Theo Oshisanya (2.22m).
 
SW Carys Jones (3.72m); U20W Evie Lawrence (3.02m); U17W Millie Carter (3.02m); U15G Amy Beynon (2.42m).
 
 
Wednesday 11th March were the Welsh Schools & Colleges cross country championships held at Brecon. There were last minute changes to the courses due to the horrific weather conditions in recent weeks, and a great days running was had! Swansea Harriers were well represented in their school district teams, primarily for Afan Nedd Tawe but also a sprinkling across other districts too. Highlights included our top two in each race of;
 
Junior Girls first home was Kaitlyn Jones in 18th followed by Mai Davies in 35th.
 
Junior Boys Charlie Harris had a superb run for individual SILVER and book his place in the Wales team for the British Schools Cross Country International on Falkirk next weekend; Tesfaye Shugi placed 12th.
 
An awesome GOLD medal win for Ashleigh Willis in the Senior Girls was the days main highlight and an impressive 4th from Darcie Bass.
 
Year 7 Boys 13th Oliver Patterson and 76th Ethan Jones.
 
Year 7 Girls Ava Davies had a great run for 6th and Matilda Quick in 27th.
 
Senior Boys a fantastic 4th for Nathan Jones and 18th William Arnold helping their team to BRONZE!
 
Middle Girls Ella Davies was 12th
 
Middle Boys Aled Tumelty was 15th and Iwan White 26th.
