Results Round Up From Madrid, Valencia, Nottingham, Cardiff & Exeter

Monday 19th March to Saturday 24th March were the European Masters Indoor Athletics Championships held in Madrid, SPAIN where the club had four members in action against the very best in Europe; MM60+ Roderick Davies placed 4th in his 60m heat (8.83) and progressed to the 200m semi final for 5th place (29.24) and was 13th in the Long Jump final (4.02m); MM45+ Matt Kinane was 4th in his 800m heat (2.11.74); MM50+ Paul Flynn was 7th in his 800m heat (2.26.13) and 6th in the 1500m final (5.05.14), he also placed 10th in the 3000m final (10.57.32); MM50+ Glyn Price was 5th in the Pole Vault final with a leap of (3.80m). Well done everyone!
 
Again in sunny Spain four of ladies took part in the IAAF World Half Marathon Championships on Saturday 24th March in Valencia; Alaw Beynon-Thomas set a lifetime best of (76.48) and was followed home by Rachel Davies also in a lifetime best (84.55); Llinos Jones (86.54) and Luticia Thomas (90.12). Congratulations on some great results!
 
Saturday 24th March saw the combined British Schools U15 & U17 and U20 & Seniors Home Countries cross country international held at Nottingham. It was awesome to see no less than eight Swansea Harriers selected to represent Wales, up against the very best cross country runners from Scotland, Ireland & England. All performed excellently and should be very proud of their achievements:
U15B Charlie Holland 19th.
U17W Eluned King 20th; Ashleigh Willis 22nd; Darcie Bass 23rd and 31st Caitlyn Gwyther
U20M Elliot Lawrence 14th and Dominic Smith 18th.
SM Phil Matthews 8th.
 
Sunday 25th March was the Cardiff Bay 10K, we had 12 runners in action and our first 4 Men and Women home were: 
The day after Nottingham Phil Matthews crossed the line first for the club in 7th (30.57) and was followed home by 124th Matthew Richards (33.37); 186th Ifan Lloyd (35.18) and 210th Craig Jones (36.38).
In the ladies Sian Edwards had a great run for 8th (35.55); followed across the line by 18th Sian Kirk (40.20); 70th Christine Webb (46.29) and 291st Emily Marchant (52.53).

Back on Wednesday 21st March was the South West University Varsity match at Exeter where Rhys Granville won the 200m (23.0) and Lucy Fligelstone was 4th over the 800m (2.27.7). Well done both!
