Results Round Up From Margam, Birmingham, London, Sheffield, Bath, Neath, Cardiff & Llanelli

Wednesday 8th March was the Apollo Teaching Services Afan Nedd Tawe Secondary Schools & Colleges cross country county trial at Margam Park, it was great to see almost all schools in attendance. Highlights included medal winning runs by individuals from:
Year 7G: 1st Ella Davies (Gwyr); 2nd Tiffany Rees (Olchfa) 3rd Nia Bailey-Jones (Bishopston).
Year 7B: there were no medalists from the club however they filled positions 4th to 9th with Samuel Davies being home first in 4th.
Year 8&9G: 1st Ashleigh Willis (Olchfa) and 2nd Darcie Bass (Penyrheol).
Year 8&9B: 3rd Charlie Holland (Bishopston).
Years 10 to 14G: we filled the first 5 places with 1st Eluned King (Gwyr); 2nd Mollie Jones (Bae Baglan) and 3rd Bronwen Stratton-Thomas (Olchfa).
Years 10 to 15B 1st Elliot Lawrence (St Josephs); 2nd Nathan Jones (Bishopston) and 3rd Robin Harris (Gower College).

Saturday 11th March was the UK Inter Counties Cross Country Championships held at Birmingham and it was great to see 4 Swansea Harriers selected to represent the West Wales Regional team against many of the UKs best endurance athletes. In the U13B Kian Evans was 198th; U13G Ella Davies 222nd; U17M Dominic Smith had a great run to be our highest placed finisher of the championships in 12th and U17M Elliot Lawrence was 23rd. The weekend of Saturday 11th & Sunday 12th March was the British Masters (35+) Indoor Athletics Championships held at Lee Valley, London. Highlights included 3 medals all from Daphne Marler BRONZE MW70+ 60m (14.28), SILVER Triple Jump (4.53m) and SILVER Long Jump (1.87m), very many congratulations!
 
Saturday 11th  & Sunday 12th March was also the England Athletics and Welsh Athletics: U17 and U15 Age Group Combined Events indoor Champs @ Sheffield, where the club had 3 participants U17W Josie Sivak set a total of (3016 points) finishing 19th overall and winning the BRONZE in the Welsh Championships Pentathlon; U15G Carys Poole set a total of (2655 points) to win the SILVER medal in the Welsh Championships and finish 18th overall, setting a personal best in the High Jump (1.40m), and U15G Jamie Holland was 5th in the Welsh Championships and 31st overall scoring (2357 points) setting a personal best in the 60m Hurdles (10.49). Sunday 12th March at the Bath Half Marathon James Gwyther was 1123rd (1.36.40) and Robin D’Arcy 2748th (1.45.43).
 
Sunday 12th March at Cardiff was the indoor Vault Cardiff meeting where 2 Swansea Harriers were in action U15B Noah Osborne winning his pool with a vault of (2.53m) and MM50+ Glyn Price vaulting to (3.93m) for 10th.
 
Sunday 12th March at the Neath Harriers 10 Mile Road Race in small but elite field it was a clean sweep of the top 3 places in the men with Marc Hobbs taking the spoils in (52.10), 2nd Phillip Matthews (53.32) and 3rd Matthew Harvey (54.48). Our first and only 3 ladies home were; 39th Diane Brownhill (71.49); 43rd Penny Kennedy (75.24) and 45th Sian Phillips (79.33). Very well done to them all, click here for the full results.
 
Sunday 12th March was the Llanelli Half Marathon, where there were some 18 Swansea Harriers in action. In the mens it was a clean sweep of the podium places for 1st Joshua Griffiths (1.05.17); 2nd Matthew Rees (1.11.45) and 3rd Ian Harris (1.11.54) also having a great run was Michael Bryant placing 6th in (1.17.17). In the ladies we just had the one finisher Sarah Worley in an excellent 6th (1.28.18). Very well done to all those who ran, click here for the full results.
