What A Team! Saturday 3rd June was round 2 of 4 at home for the British Mens League Division 1 team, and they had a wonderful day to win the match and go top of the league table with 2 matches remaining. The team was a real mix of youth and experience, all willing and able to represent their club with true team spirit. It was also most pleasing to see such a large portion of the team having come through the junior sections of the club. Unlike in Cardiff on Wednesday most of the sprints were “run against the wind” however there were still some great times set. The level of competition in the league is so high that there were just the two overall A string victories for; Dewi Griffiths (13.50.83) 5000m and a lifetime best; Glen Elsdon (14.89) 110m Hurdles. There was an all time club best for the 4 x 100m Relay team of (41.44) Lemarl Frekleton, Glen Elsdon, Michael Wilson & Sam Ige. Our thanks to the entire team, and team manager Dave, who gave their all in a magnificent team effort, and to all the volunteers who made it such a successful day and the very best of luck for match 3. Sunday 4th June was round 2 of 4 in the U17, U20 & Senior Welsh League at Brecon. Due to the clashes with the British Mens and UK Womens League matches only a small team was available to compete at Brecon. Incorporated into the league match were select events from the Welsh Masters Championships. In the league highlights included overall age group winning performances from:

SW Donna Jones (60.19) 400m; Katie Phillips (4.03m) Long Jump & (9.50m) Triple Jump and Jo Wood (25.87m) Javelin.
U20M Nathan James (58.96m) Javelin.
U17M Tomos Slade (22.90) 200m and Steffan Jones (53.32) 400m.
In the masters Championships, medal winning performances were set by: M60 Roderick Davies (30.22) 200m BRONZE; W60 Renate Prells (23.19m) Hammer SILVER & (17.90m) Discus GOLD;  W70 Daphne Marler (1.75m) Long Jump SILVER & (4.53m) Triple Jump SILVER and M65 David Jones (17.38m) Hammer GOLD.
There are no team points from Brecon yet, and we are still querying the team scores and match points from round 1, once all this is clarified we will be able to confirm where the team is placed in the league. In the meantime, click here for the full results.
