Results Round Up From Pembrey, Rhayader, Cardiff, Cwmbran, Boston USA, Newport, Manchester & London

What another extra busy weekend of athletics to catch up on.
 
Saturday 4th March saw the 5th and final round of the Gwent Cross Country League held at Pembrey Country Park, hosted by Carmarthen Harriers, it was a great course and very well organised.
In the senior men Martyn Hughes-Dowdle was home first in 61st, followed home by Mike Gleeson in 71st; Jos Jones 108th; Owen Davies 147th and Simon Merrick in 204th, the team end the season in 8th place in Division 1.
In the senior ladies Kate Roberts had a great run for 5th and was followed home by Helen Marshall 20th and Abigayle Goodrick-Latham 50th. With just the 3 representatives the team finished the season in 10th place, just avoiding relegation from the top division.
The U11B scoring four were; 12th Christian Garcia; 16th Harley Gleeson; 17th Dafydd King and 50th Thomas Gorvett. The team end the season in 10th in the league.
The U11G scoring four were: 27th Melissa Davies; 31st Sarah Lyons; 33rd Eleri Reed and 36th Kaitlyn Jones. The team end the season in 6th in the league.
The U13B team was incomplete however the 3 runners were 41st Rhys Owen; 42nd Joseph Beresford and 45th Joseff Lewis. The team end the season 8th in the league.
The U13G breaking into the top 10 was Tiffany Rees 10th; 26th Ffion Hennessy ; 46th Jessica Kitchen and 48th Gabrielle Garcia. The team end the season in 9th in the league.The 
U15B had no runners. The team were 14th in the league.
The U15G by our own clubs high standards was the only team to medal this year, for the largest club in Wales this isn't great, the 4 scorers were Rebecca Martin in 6th; and Bronwen Stratton-Thomas in 9th both having strong runs to get into the top 10; Beth Thomas was 18th and Eve Bevan 28th. The team ended the season in SILVER! - well done girls a great effort!
U17M all on his own was Francis Lewis in 14th, the team were 7th in the league.
U17W also all on her own was Hollie-May Allen having a great run for 8th. The team were 11th in the league.No U
20M or U20W participated.

Saturday 4th March was the Rhayader Round The Lakes 20 Mile Road Race, Swansea Harriers had 4 runners; first home was 20th Charles Walsh (2.15.33) followed home by 23rd Raul Reismann (2.16.24); 134th Geoff Lewis (2.47.53) and 151st Diane Brownhill (2.50.36). Sunday 5th March saw the U20 & U18 Welsh Athletics Indoor International, Wales V England at Cardiff, it was great to see both team captains being from Swansea Harriers too: Lauren Williams and Joseph Brier! In addition to the International match ,there were numerous guest events. In the International representing Wales was U20M Callum Davies 60m (6.95) 2nd; U18M Eli Onyewu 60m (7.30) 4th; U20W Hannah Brier 60m (7.44) 1st; U20M Joseph Brier 400m (49.03) 2nd; U20W Lauren Williams 400m (58.17) 3rd; U20M Rhys Harris 60m Hurdles (8.39) 3rd; U18M Tomos Slade 60m Hurdles (8.38) 4th; U20W Mia Evans 60m Hurdles (9.04) 3rd and U20M Osaze Aghedo Triple Jump (14.73m) 3rd. To have 9 athletes from one club was exceptional and reflects not only on the talented athletes but the coaching team around them. Sunday 5th March was the Welsh Schools Sports Hall Athletics Final at Cwmbran. Plenty of the team were from Swansea Harriers too. Very many congratulations and thanks to all the athletes who represented the Afan Nedd Tawe School District. There were many fantastic individual and team results, both U13 & U15 girls teams just missed out on a trip to Manchester for the UK final!
The U15G placed 2nd just missing out on a trip to Manchester for the UK Final. There was one event victory from; Jamie Holland, YGG Gwyr (9.87m) Shot.
The U15B placed 4th just outside the medals. Jack Spiller (Olchfa) was our highest placed individual all rounder in 8th (117 points). There was one event victory from: Jack Spiller, Olchfa (8.04m) Standing Triple Jump.
The U13G placed 2nd, agonisingly just 2 points away from outright victory! There is no all rounder element to the U13 events. Event victories came from: Caitlyn Llewellyn, Bishop Vaughan (26.0) 2 Laps; Grace Whitaker, Olchfa (6.06m) Standing Triple Jump and the quartet of Ava Clear, Morriston, Georgia Wilson, Morriston, Eleanor Ward, Bishop Gore and Carys Poole, YGG Gwyr in the obstacle relay (1.26.1).
The U13B placed 6th. Iwan White (Bishopston) produced the highest individual placing on the day with a 3rd in the vertical jump (50cm). It was a young team that performed admirably.
 
Sunday 5th March saw Jac Hopkins set a new lifetime best over 3000m indoors in Boston USA in a time of (8.08.37).
 
Sunday 5th March was the St Davids day 10K at Cardiff where the club had just the one representative Michael Bryant having a fine run for 6th place overall in (36.29), well done Michael.
 
Sunday 5th March saw the Newport Half Marathon where there was an excellent victory for Chris Carpanini (1.09.54), who was followed home by 2 other Swansea Harriers; 66th Geraint Williams (1.28.32) and 350th Christine Webb (1.43.15). Click here for the full results.
 
Sunday 5th March at the Trafford 10K in Manchester Jonathan Hopkins was 20th overall in a fast time of (30.23), Elinor Kirk set an impressive time of (33.29) in winning the ladies race and big sister Sian Kirk was just behind in 56th (42.34). Back on Sunday 26th February was the England Masters Inter Area match at Lee Valley London, and it was great to see 5 of our members selected for Wales. There was a BRONZE! for Rod Davies in the MM60+ 60m (8.81) and a 5th in the 200m (30.2) and 4th Long Jump (4.13m); the versatile Robin Wood in the M50+ was 6th in the 200m (31.05) 5th in the 2000m Walk (14.25.59) won a BRONZE! in the Long Jump (4.77m) and 4th in the Triple Jump (9.76m); MW35+ Helen-Marie Davies was 4th in the 1500m (11.25.71); there was GOLD! for M35+ Peter Maitland in the Shot (13.25m) and a BRONZE for MW60+ Renate Prells (6.95m) Shot.
