Results Round Up From Sheffield, Armagh, Margam & New York USA

Friday 17th February to Sunday 19th February at Sheffield were the British Universities Indoor Athletics Championships, where the main highlight of the weekend was Hannah Briers GOLD medal in the 60m where in the process broke the all time Welsh U20 and British Universities Championship records in a time of (7.31) and now sits 5th on the British All Time Rankings!! Another GOLD medal came from a superb run by Olivia Caesar in the 400m (54.08) well done Olivia!; Lucy Fligelstone was 4th in her heat (61.33); also at Sheffield Daniel Beadsley was 3rd in the 200m semi final (22.34); ex member Keiron White set a lifetime best of (1.55.56) in the 800m semi final, after a few years away hopefully we'll see him back in club colors soon; Rhys Granville ran (1.59.39) for 4th in his 800m heat; Abigayle Goodrick-Latham set lifetime bests in her 800m (2.34.02) and 1500m (5.16.39) heats; Michael Wilson was 4th in 60m Hurdles heat (8.78) and Sian Swanson was 8th in her Long Jump pool (5.21m) and 8th in her Triple Jump pool too (11.12m). Thursday 16th February were the Armagh 5K International Road Races for which a large contingent of Swansea Harriers traveled to take part in one of the most popular races for top club athletes. Once again this year most came home with personal bests, highlights included: Having superb runs in PB's 3rd and 5th were Dewi Griffiths (13.48) to break the 14 minute barrier and Kristian Jones (14.03); following them home were: 15th Joshua Griffiths (14.19) PB; 44th Jack Gooch (14.38) PB; 59th Chris Carpannini (14.46); 79th Dominic Smith (15.00) PB and a Welsh Development Squad vest; 84th Marc Hobbs (15.06); 97th Matthew Rees (15.18) PB; 111th Elliot Lawrence (15.18) PB and a Welsh Development Squad Vest and Christian Lovatt 121st (15.28). Saturday 18th February was the extremely challenging Hoka Trail Half Marathon at Margam Park. The club had just the 5 representatives, very well done to a fine victory for Matthew Rees (1.24.27) who was followed across the line by 5th Eamonn Kirk (1.31.31); 9th Raul Reismann (1.34.54); 31st Robert Hughes (1.44.47) and 57th Heath Brett (1.50.04). Back on Friday 10th February in New York, USA Jac Hopkins ran a lifetime best of (8.17.88) over 3000m indoors, then eight days later set another lifetime best over 5000m indoors (14.24.94), Jac had been showing his versatility as an athlete whilst based in the USA with performances recorded in the Shot and 60m too, well done Jac!
