Sunday 12th February was round 4 of 5 in the Gwent Cross Country League held at a cold, wet and windy Glebelands, Newport.
In the senior men Angus Maclean had a great run for 4th, also breaking into the top 10 was 7th placed Phil Matthews; completing the scoring team of 5 were 72nd Charles Walsh; 98th Mike Gleeson and 233rd Owen Davies, the team are now 8th in Division 1. In the ladies Kate Roberts had a superb run for 3rd; Alaw Beynon-Thomas had a great run too for 7th place; Victoria Jackson was 16th and Helen Marshall 29th, the senior ladies now rise to 10th in Division 1 outside of the relegation zone, finishing a team of 5 in the final match should see them retain their Division 1 status.
In the juniors there was a mixed turnout due to the clash with the indoors at Cardiff, but it was great to see quite a few still make it to Newport:
U11B First home was Harley Gleeson (16th) followed home by Dafydd King in 28th and Thomas Gorvett in 66th; the team are 12th in the league.
U11G were well represented with 9 runners, and our 4 scorers were 13th Mai Davies; 31st Eleri Reed; 33rd Melissa Davies and 41st Sarah Lyons. The team are 5th in the league.
U13B all on his own was Joseff Lewis 44th, the team slip to 8th in the league.
U13G had just the 2 runners, breaking into the top 10 was Ella Davies in 9th followed home by Tiffany Rees in 17th. The team are 9th in the league.
U15B all on his own was William Arnold in 28th, the team are placed 12th in the league.
U15G are still our best team and still sit at the top of the league but the gap to 2nd has closed; the 4 scorers were Darcie Bass having a great run for 4th; in 14th Caitlin Gwyther; 25th Rebecca Martin and 26th Beth Thomas.
Unfortunately there were no runners in the U17W, U17M, U20W or U20M from the club.
