Results Round Up From Stirling, Swansea, Margam & Elsewhere

Saturday 11th January was the British Athletics Cross Challenge at Stirling incorporating the home countries international, three Swansea Harriers were selected to run. In atrocious weather conditions club superstar Kristian Jones representing Wales won the senior men’s race against the UK’s top cross county runners, well done Kristian! Also representing Wales was U20W Ashleigh Willis who had a great run too placing 11th and SW Alaw Beynon-Thomas was 39th for Wales. Very well done to all three, click here for the full results.
Saturday 11th & Sunday 12th January saw an amazing entry of 191, yes that was 191 Swansea Harriers in the West Wales Indoor Championships held at Swansea. If only every match was at home to get turnouts like this! Very well done to all those athletes that took part, gaining invaluable competition experience. Thank you to all the volunteers who made the event possible, it would not of happened without their support. Sunday 12th January was round 3 of 5 in the seniors West Glamorgan Cross Country League held at Margam reservoir. In a huge field of over 500 runners over the 5.6 mile double loop of the reservoir, our top five men and women home were:
Women: A fine win for Helen-Marie Davies; followed home by 4th Diane Brownhill; 5th Emma Baxter; 14th Julie Hartley-Green and 18th Christine Webb.
Men: 9th John Moran; 20th Daniel Otteson; 23rd Thomas Guest; 27th Sam Joseph and 30th Paul Flynn.
Our thanks to all those runners out representing the club, in this fantastic grass roots inter club league. Our team now have an anxious wait until the league tables to see if our women have held onto top spot, and our men into promotion places! Click here for the full individual results.
