Results Round Up From Swansea, Bath, Builth Wells, Loughborough, Neath x 2, Caerphilly and Carmarthen

Friday 10th May was the Swansea Harriers School Year 7 Trophy Match held in very wet weather at home in Swansea. There was a great turnout of 10 schools despite the poor weather conditions our thanks to all the PE teachers who brought teams and to all the volunteers who helped out on the evening from the club. YG Gwyr were the overall winners followed by Bishop Vaughan in 2nd and Bishopston in 3rd. Highlights for Swansea Harriers athletes representing their school team include wins for:
Boys: Macsen Holland (8.41m) Shot & (23.34m) Discus.
Girls: Katelyn Thomas (11.6) 70m Hurdles & (1.35m) High Jump; Leni Beard (13.7) 100m & (31.1) 200m; Sarah Lyons (4.77m) Long Jump; Mai Davies (5.39.0) 1500m and  Katie Lake (19.32m) Discus.

Saturday 19th May was round 2 of 3 in the U13 & U15 Youth Development League held at Bath University. The team had another great win to go 2 from 2 with 1 match to go to try as secure a place in the regional final. As ever there were lots of personal bests set and a new club record too. Our thanks to all those athletes who made the trip to support the team as we as to all the team managers, coaches and officials, another superb team effort! Individual highlights included overall A string victories for:
U15B Charlie Holland (23.8) 200m & (2.06.2) 800m; Sam Petherbridge (37.9) 300m; William Trott (3.46m) Pole Vault; Harvey James (9.71m) Shot; Sam Petherbridge, Owain Clarke, Harvey James & Charlie Holland (2.40.3) 4 x 300m.
U15G Carys Poole (44.0) 300m & (11.7) 75m Hurdles & (5.11m) Long Jump; Emily Collins (30.87m) Hammer; Chloe Jones (25.87m) Javelin; Gabrielle Garcia, Elin Murphy, Carys Dickinson & Carys Poole (3.00.2) 4 x 300m and a NEW CLUB RECORD!

Saturday 19th May was the Royal Welsh Trail Running Festival Half Marathon at Builth Wells where the club had three runners; having a great run for 7th was Ifan Lloyd (87.05) who was followed home by 96th Andrew Brawn (2.02.14) and 139th Simon Coombes (2.13.35).
Sunday 20th May was the Loughborough International where the teams competing were England, Loughborough Students, Great Britain U20, Scotland, Wales and a British Universities team, Swansea Harriers were well represented across a number of the teams and as guests:
Risqat Fabunmi-Alade ran (12.01) 100m & (24.35 in the 200m guest races; Lemarl Freckleton won his 200m guest race in (21.77); Joseph Brier set a time of (47.71) in the guest 400m and ran for GB Juniors in the 4 x 400m; Laura Maddox Wales Captain set a time of (53.77) to win the 400m; representing Wales Jonathan Tobin was 13th in the 1500m (3.49.41); also for Wales Guy Smith set a lifetime best over 3000m finishing 3rd in (8.12.10); Lauren Williams representing GB Juniors was 6th over 400m Hurdles (60.38); Daniel Rothwell guesting in the 3000m Steeplechase was 11th (9.38.57); Aled Price for Wales was 8th in the Long Jump (6.84m) our final two athletes were both representing Wales too Sian Swanson (11.69m) Triple Jump in 7th and Nathan James (64.82m) for 5th in the Javelin. Sunday 20th May at hot and sunny Neath was round 2 of 4 in the Welsh U17, U20 & Senior League at Neath, just as our juniors the day before the team went 2 form 2 winning the 2nd round. Our thanks to all the athletes out representing their club and as ever to the team managers, coaches and officials too. Highlights included age group wins for:
U17M Thomas Payne (11.6) 100m; Tristan James (12.90m) Shot and Joshua Wilton (44.64m) Javelin. 
U17W Evie Lawrence (3.00m) Pole Vault and Holly Cooper (29.46m) Discus.
U20M Eli Onyewu (11.5) 100m; Ieuan Hosgood (3.90m) Pole Vault and Michael Thompson (11.35m) Shot & (31.03m) Discus & (32.70m) Javelin.
U20W Megan Stratton-Thomas (9.57.64) 2000m Walk.
SM Rhys Granville (50.64) 400m.

Sunday 20th May was the undulating Caerphilly 10K where the club had three runners: Phil Matthews having yet another fine run to place 3rd in (31.31) followed home by 103rd Calvin Hold (43.39) and Vanessa Harragan 238th (48.11), well done team.
Wednesday 23rd May an enormous contingent of over 100 of our U11 & U13 athletes made the short trip to Neath for round 2 of 3 in the Triangular series V Neath & Llanelli. In a great evening athletics the team won round 2. Our thanks to all the athletes who travelled and to those field events who were willing to wait for their events to start a little late due to the volume of athletes from all clubs taking part. Individual highlights included winning performances from:
U11G Sophie Taylor (11.6) 75m & (3.40m) Long Jump; Leyah Nicholls & Rebekah Saunders (1.02m) High Jump and Lucy Williams, Matilda Quick. Efa Williams & Sophie Taylor (64.2) 4 x 100m. 
U11B Lewis Evans (11.3) 75m; Oliver Gillett (2.38.1) 800m; Oliver Patterson, Lewis Evans, Finn McIntyre & Blake Williams (62.4) 4 x 100m; Finn McIntyre (3.42m) Long Jump & (1.22m) High Jump.
U13G Megan Gwyther (14.1) & Katelyn Thomas (14.1) 100m; Mai Davies (2.40.5) 800m; Sarah Lyons (4.96m) Long Jump, this was in excess of the club record however there was no wind reading so cant be ratified, nevertheless we are sure it will be broken officially soon; Lucy Harris (24.12m) Javelin and Katelyn Thomas (1.35m) High Jump.

Thursday 24th May was the monthly Carmarthen Harriers throws open where winning performances in each age group came from: U17M Harley Thomas (10.55m) Shot; U17W Jamie Holland (10.57m) Shot; SM Nathan James (56.75m) Javelin and U17M Ethan Rigby (42.91m) Javelin.
