Results Round Up From Swansea & Birmingham

Sunday 18th September was the Swansea Bay 10K, 5K, 3K & 1K races and the weather was perfect for fast times with little wind and not too hot. The club as expected was really well represented in all four races and there were lots of fantastic performances amongst the 3,200+ finishers, highlights included:
 
10K: Danal Desta getting onto the podium in BRONZE (30.02) making up our top 7 men to cross the line were: 6th Jonathan Hopkins (30.47) who was also representing Wales; 10th Guy Smith (31.26); 13th Christian Lovatt (31.53) Christian was part of the Wales team with Jonathan; 15th Chris Carpanini (32.02) another Wales representative; 18th Angus MacLean (32.30) and 19th Matthew Rees (32.31). In the ladies our top 7 were 54th in a lifetime best Alaw Beynon-Thomas (36.04); 221st Helen-Marie Davies (41.56); 390th Penny Kennedy (45.33); 479th Christine Webb (46.40); 578th Vanessa Harrigan (48.17); 670th Sian Phillips (49.13); stepping up in distance (a lot) from her preferred discipline of Long Jump 1068th Felicity Church (51.19) and 1784th Caroline Morgan (59.55).
 
5K: Nathan Jones took the SILVER medal in (17.17); Samuel Martin was 4th (17.43) and Adam Fielding 5th (18.23) making our first three boys, in the girls Megan Stratton-Thomas won BRONZE and was 10th overall (20.36) and Alexandra Lervy was our only other female runner setting a great time of (26.27).
 
3K: There were no medalists in the boys but closest having a great run was Kian Evans in 8th (10.41); making up our top 3 boys were 15th William Arnold (11.21) and 24th William Buchan (12.14). In the girls Ashleigh Willis (9th) came away with the GOLD medal in (10.45) and just behind in SILVER was (10th) Caitlin Gwyther (10.50) our third finisher was Rebecca Martin (14th) (11.18).
 
1K: Harley Gleeson was our first finisher in 5th (3.38); followed by 11th Oliver O’Brien (3.52) and in 12th his brother Henry O’Brien (3.54) to make up our top three boys across the line. In the girls it was aone two with GOLD for Ella Davies (6th) (3.41); SILVER for Tiffany Rees (13th) (3.55) and 20th Mai Davies (4.04).
It was great to see to so many of our distance runners out across all age groups and no doubt we can look forward to seeing them all do well in the cross country fixtures this autumn and winter.
 
The weekend of Saturday 17th & Sunday 18th September were the British Masters Athletics Championships at Birmingham. V55 Roderick Davies was 6th in his 100m heat (14.21), matched this in his 200m heat (29.23) and just missed out on a medal in the Long Jump in 4th (4.26m); V35 Robert Prady finished 9th in the 1500m (4.51.16); V50 Glyn Price had a great result for SILVER in the Pole Vault (3.80m); V60 Renate Prells came away with two medals BRONZE in the weight throw (8.74m) and GOLD! In the hammer (31.65m) and there was a SILVER medal won by V60 Chris Pruski in the Javelin (32.47m). Very many congratulations to all five on some great performances, click here for the full results.
