Results Round Up From Swansea & Loch Ness

Sunday 24th September was the Swansea Bay 10K, 5K, 3K & 1K races held in wet and windy conditions, the club was well represented in all 4 races, despite entries selling out well in advance of the closing date for this ever popular and great event. Highlights included:

First up was the 1K where Mai Davies (3.34) had a great run for SILVER and she was followed home by 8th placed Carys Hennessey (3.48), 14th Kaitlyn Jones (3.58) and 15th Sophie Hartley-Green (4.01) making our first 4 girls. In the boys Morgan Willis was back first for the club in 9th (3.49) having a solid run. 

The 3K was off next starting in Blackpill where Ashleigh Willis had a fine GOLD medal winning performance in the girls to cross the line in (10.34) and 6th overall, she was followed home by; 10th Darcie Bass (11.50) in SILVER; 13th Caitlyn Gwyther (12.22) and 35th Ffion Hennessey (14.13) making up our first 4 girls. In the boys Ben Sullivan was home first in 8th overall (11.35), with not too far behind 11th Matt Gudgeon (12.10); 17th Dafydd King (12.49) and 18th Thomas Gorvett (12.54) to complete our top 4 boys.

The 5K only had 13 finishers in total, 2 of which were Swansea Harriers: 7th Logan Lambe (20.05) and girls SILVER to Rebecca Martin (20.27) in 8th overall.

In the main 10K officially there was a huge field of 3545 finishers, of which Swansea Harriers were well placed indeed. Our first 5 male and female finishers for the club were:

SILVER for Dewi Griffiths who is showing great form across a range of distances on and off track recently, Dewis (28.27) was a lifetime best and to date has him ranked number 1 in the UK! Three more had superb runs to break into the top 10: 8th Jonathan Hopkins (31.16); 9th Danal Desta (31.35); 10th Paul Tobin (31.57) and a lifetime best! and another lifetime best came from 12th placed Matthew Harvey (32.14).

In the ladies Sarah Worley was home first for the club in 126th (39.50), followed across the line by; 203rd Helen-Marie Davies (42.00); 205th Emily Marchant (42.05); 311th Penny Kennedy (44.17) which was a lifetime best, and 322nd Abigayle Goodrick-Latham (44.35).

Meanwhile elsewhere the Loch Ness Monster was not sighted but SM Kristian Jones was having a great run to win the Baxters, Loch Ness 10K in Inverness Scotland in a great sub 30 minute time of (29.51), well done Kristian!
