Results Round Up From Yate, Highgate, Snowdonia, Reading, Loughborough & Whitford Point

Wednesday 17th May was the Swansea Harriers Whitford Point 5.9 mile Multi Terrain Race with an excellent number of finishers where we had another very good race with 155 runners setting off in fine, sunny and calm weather. Many thanks to race organiser Brian Fox for putting on such a great event. Our first 4 men and ladies home were: 3rd Michael Bryant (36.35); 4th Ifan Lloyd (36.42); 7th Craig Jones (37.21) and Thomas Guest (37.35) in the men and in the ladies; a fine win for Helen Marshall (40.31); 70th Penny Kennedy (46.03); 71st Abigayle Goodrick-Latham (46.05) and 73rd Vanessa Harrigan (46.18). Saturday 20th May saw the U13 & U15 team in round 2 of 3 in the Youth Development League at Yate. The team performed excellently again to win the 2nd match in a row and with one fixture to go before the top 3 teams in the division progress to the regional final, their progress in assured with a match to spare! Very well done to all the athletes, team managers and officials who all contributed to sucha great result. Saturday 20th May was the Highgate Harriers night of 10,000m PB incorporating the British Championships held at Parliment Hill, London. There was a superb SILVER medal for Dewi Griffiths setting a time of (28.31.88) gaining a Commonwealth Games qualifying A standard in the process, in the same race Kristian Jones set a lifetime best of (29.05.66) for 11th place and there was a lifetime best for SW Verity Ockenden too in the Womens A race placing 16th in (33.33.37). Sunday 21st May was the Loughborough International where many of the UK's top track and field athletes were in action. Highlights included, Lemarl Frekleton (10.69) 100m for 4th in the E race; Hannah Brier (11.61) 100m 4th; U20M Joseph Brier was selected to represent Great Britain Juniors and finished 4th in the B 400m (48.60) many congratulations Joe! Oliver Caesar (54.91) 400m A Race 5th; Laura Maddox (53.84) 400m B Race 1st; Caryl Granville (59.89) 400m Hurdles 4th and in the same race Bethany Close (68.33) in 7th. Many congratulations to Osaze Aghedo who broke his own all time club record for Triple Jump in both the U20M & SM age groups with an enormous leap of (15.29m) to place 6th! Sian Swanson was 8th in the Triple Jump with (11.48m) and Awen Rosser was 7th in the Discus with (43.16m). As well as Josephs international vest, Laura, Caryl, Osaze, Sian and Awen were all representing Wales Seniors, many congratulations to some much deserved international call ups. Sunday 21st May saw Danal Desta set a course record at the extremely hilly Snowdonia Half Marathon in a superb time of (77.42) more than 8 minutes ahead of his nearest competitor! Well done Danal!

Sunday 21st May saw Caryl Jones set a time of (35.36) for 10K at the Royal Barkshire 10K and placed 2nd female, well done Caryl on such a great run.
