Weekend Results from London, Deeside & Sportshall

Sunday 22nd April was the London Marathon and the clubs first runner home was David Kehoe with a very impressive top 100 finish in 90th (2.35.05) very well done to David and all those from the club that followed him home, in order they were: Owain Jones 239th (2.42.09), 1337th Raul Reissman (3.01.40), Steve Davies 1634th (3.05.43) we are waiting for the positions of our other runners but here are their times Stephen Richards (3.23.15), Simon Franks (3.56.56), Uka Kumari (4.03.56) and Sam Walsh (4.05.03).

The same day on the final 3 mile stretch of the course to the finish before the leading runners of the full marathon get back are the London Mini Marathons, where school teams from throughout the UK regions are entered. Very many congratulations to those juniors who represented the Welsh Schools team, all ran exceptionally well with a special mention to Jac Hopkins who had another very close finish to claim the Bronze medal in the U15B. Saturday 21st April was the UK Schools Sportshall Athletics Finals at the NEC Birmingham, Stephanie Nicholas was the only Afan Nedd Tawe athlete who qualified and she had a great result winning the silver medal in the shot put section of the U15G all rounder final with a throw of 10.59m with the 3.25kg shot very well done.

Sunday 22nd April a very small team of just 20 athletes made the very long journey to Deeside for match 1 of the Welsh U17, U20 & Senior League, despite limited numbers the team had a strong result to finish 3rd amongst the North Wales clubs present. One of the highlights of the day was a win and grade 2 performance in the U17W shot by Stephanie Nicholas who came across from Birmingham the day before, a busy weekend! Very many thanks to all those who made the trip and we hope for a bigger turnout in match 2 at Cwmbran in a few weeks time. Click here for the full results.
