Since the club recommenced training in October we have had almost an additional 100 new members join the club. This has taken our overall membership well into the 700's and edging ever closer to 800 members. This is an enormous undertaking for our volunteers to offer effective coaching to each week.

Saturday 14th October at Cardiff saw round 1 of the cross country league for all age groups, incorporating the 1st round of the British Cross Challenge and also the West Wales Regional Championships. There was a great turnout from the club in most age groups, with many fine performances, medals won and selections made for the West Wales regional team, in what were hot and humid conditions for cross country.

The club Annual General Meeting was held on Thursday 5th October where amongst other items a number of annual reports were submitted by key volunteers in the club. This year, however, the level of our successes and the club profile has reached unprecedented heights. Indeed, in talking to members who have been with the club since its beginning, this has probably been our most successful year ever.

The deadline for the Swansea Harriers club ballot for the Virgin London Marathon 2018 is Friday 27th October.
The National Ballot and Good for Age places for VLM 2018 should have reached all eligible Swansea Harriers members this week.

Saturday 30th September were the somewhat sparsely attended Welsh Mile Road Championships & Open Races & British Masters Mile Races at Cardiff. Nevertheless there were some fantastic runs around the Cardiff Civic Centre, with highlights including medal winning performances from;

Sunday 24th September was the Swansea Bay 10K, 5K, 3K & 1K races held in wet and windy conditions, the club was well represented in all 4 races, despite entries selling out well in advance of the closing date for this ever popular and great event. Highlights included:

Saturday 16th September were the Welsh National Road Relay Championships held at Pembrey Country Park in near perfect conditions. It proved to be another very successful Welsh championships for Swansea Harriers with 7 team golds and 5 individual golds won:

Tuesday 29th August was the Welsh Masters League (35+) held at Cardiff where highlights included: the clubs eldest member Hubert Daniels in the over 85's setting a seasons best of (25.64) for the 100m showing that age is no barrier to taking part in athletics!
