Round 1

Despite a tough draw in the tight lane 1 David Greene did what he needed to do in round 1 of the 400m Hurdles running 48.98 to comfortably win his heat to qualify for the Semi Final. In what was an impressive run easing up at the finish. Make sure you have your TV's on Saturday for the semi final at 7pm.

In case you hadn't noticed the Olympic Games are now underway and the track and field events start on Friday 3rd August. Our very own David Greene has had the distinction and honor of being selected in the 400m Hurdles as well as being nominated as the Team GB captain of the athletics team. What a weekend for the club; In what was arguably the most important home league fixture the club has ever had Swansea Harriers senior women on the day were so good they comfortably retained their place in the UK Womens Athletics League Premier Division in their debut season against the very best clubs in the UK. Very many congratulations to all those athletes who have represented the team this season, everyone at the club is very proud of your magnificent achievement.

Wednesday 18th April was the Welsh Athletics International at Cardiff where top Olympians from many countries were competing to get ready for London over the next 2 weeks.

Weekend Results (David Greene & West Wales)

Friday 13th July saw David Greene finish 2nd in the Samsung Diamond League Grand Prix at Crystal Palace, LONDON in the 400m Hurdles. David set another world class time of 48.10 just behind world number 1 Javier Coulson of Peurto Rico. David is rounding to great form with the Olympics just 2 weeks away.

Caryl Granville Record Collection

Caryl Granville on Saturday 7th July added another record to her collection; this time the Senior Womens 100m Hurdles with a time of 13.95 in a European Athletics Permit meeting in Loughborough to add to her 400m Hurdles (57.61) set in 2011 and Heptathlon (4981) set in 2010. Caryl also holds the club bests for 300m (39.10) and Indoor Pentathlon (3799). Congratulations Caryl.
