Weekend Round Up

The weekend of the 26th & 27th May was an exceptionally busy one for the club.

Llanelli V Neath V Swansea U11 & U13 Triangular Series

Wednesday 6th June sees the U11 & U13 athletes in action at Neath against Llanelli & Neath in round 1 of 3 in the triangular series. We can enter unlimited athletes in each event, therefore it is an ideal opportunity for athletes to do any event(s) they wish. Just turn up on the day no later than 30 minutes before your first chosen event.

Afan Nedd Tawe Schools U14 & U16 Cup Match

Wednesday 13th June is the Afan Nedd Tawe Schools U14 & U16 Cup Match at Swansea University. All schools have been invited to compete, check with your PE teacher to see if your school is entering a team.

Age groups are; Year 7&8= U14 using club U13 age group hurdles heights and spacings and throwing implements. Year 9&10 = U16 using club U15 age group hurdle heights and spacings and throwing implements.

Sunday 20th May was the Loughborough International where most of the UK's top athletes were in action.

The weekend of the 26th and 27th May is a very busy one for the club with all age groups in league action and our officials resources stretched to their limit too;
 

Olympic Torch Bearers

The Olympic Torch has now arrived in the UK and of course it was only natural that a member of Swansea Harriers was there to meet it and even travel to Greece to collect it to ensure its safe arrival! In fact U20M Sean White was one of just 5 young ambassadors from the entire UK that was chosen to travel to Greece with HRH Princess Anne, David Beckham, Sebast

Results West Wales Athletics Championships

Sunday 13th May were the West Wales Athletics Championships at Neath and for once it did not rain, however the strong cross winds didn't help anyone except maybe the long and triple jumpers. Very well done to all those who took part some in their first ever competition. There were nearly 300 athletes participating from all clubs in what was a great competition.

On Wednesday 9th May in what were some of the worst possible conditions for athletics the Afan Nedd Tawe Schools Athletics Championships somehow managed to get all the events completed. Despite this there were several records set not including the 100m breast stoke and 200m front crawl. Very many congratulations to the following athletes on setting new all time ANT records:

Results from the Olympic Stadium test events

Tuesday 8th May was the London Disability Athletics Challenge test event in the Olympic Stadium and the club had 2 athletes participating, F13 (visually impaired) U20M long jumper James Ledger had a seasons best performance with a leap of 5.56m and Ashleigh Hellyer F32 (cerebral palsy) shot putter had yet another personal best of 7.1
