Club Annual Award Winners

The Club Awards & Gold Awards evening were held at on Saturday 24th March 2012, the awards included Senior Athlete of 2011, while the Gold Awards celebrate the individual achievements of our youngsters over the last 12 months. Very many thanks to all those who attended to make a great evenings entertainment. The main award winners were:

Male athlete of the year David Greene

Wednesday 18th April Swansea Harriers Open Meeting

The outdoor track & field season for 2012 gets underway on Wednesday 18th April with the annual Swansea Harriers Open Meeting at Swansea University. The meeting is open to athletes in all age groups from U11 to Seniors from all clubs. Just turn up and enter on the day no later than 30 minutes before your first chosen event.

Results Welsh Road Relay Championships

Sunday 25th March were the Welsh Road Relay Championships at Llandow Motor Racing Circuit near Cowbridge. The club had very successful day, with lots of team medals in every age group where a team was entered which was a fantastic result, very well done to all the athletes, coaches and team managers.

Olympic Torch Relay Bearers

There are several members of the club that have given decades of service to Swansea Harriers and the sport of athletics who would be more than worthy bearers of the Olympic Torch as it makes its way around the UK. After a long nomination and selection procedure we are aware of 3 current club members that have been chosen as one of the 8000 torchbearers and we offer our congratulations to them.

Results West Glamorgan Primary Schools Cross Country Championships

Thursday 22nd March were the West Glamorgan Primary Schools Cross Country Championships at Ashleigh Road. Very many congratulations to all those athletes and schools who qualified for the final from their area clusters.

Team wise in the girls it was a victory for Cwmrhydyceirw, followed by Pontlliw in 2nd and Sketty in 3rd. In the boys Pontarddulais came out on top followed by Cwmrhydyceirw in 2nd and Parklands in 3rd.

Welsh Schools Cross Country Team Selections

Very many congratulations to the following club athletes who have been selected to represent the Welsh Schools team in the British Schools Cross Country International at Perth, Scotland on Saturday 31st March.

FREE Level 1 UKA Assistant Officials Qualification

Swansea Harriers has a large team of very dedicated volunteer officials that help the club fulfill its commitments in all its league, cup and championship fixtures on and off track throughout the year. However we really need many more officials to be able to host fixtures and field a team of officials in away fixtures.

Results Home Countries Cross Country International & Atlantic College 10k

Sunday 18th March was the Home Countries Cross Country International at Rouken Glen, Glasgow, Scotland, the athletes had been selected to represent, Wales, England, Scotland and Northern Ireland and incorporated into the event was a schools U20 International team. Very many congratulations to all those who took part and were selected to represent Wales or Welsh Schools.

Gold Awards Presentation Evening 24th March

West Glamorgan Primary Schools Cross Country Final

Thursday 22nd March is the West Glamorgan Primary Schools Athletics Association Cross Country County Final at Ashleigh Road, Swansea.
