Volunteers Needed Please
Swansea Harriers is run entirely by volunteers and the club would cease to function without their continued support. If the club is to continue to thrive, survive and offer effective coaching ratios it is vital that more volunteers are forthcoming to support our existing volunteer team please. At the time of posting the club is looking for volunteers in the four areas listed below. We already have experienced helpers in these areas to support and mentor you through the season so you won’t be in a the deep end.
Coaching: assisting the clubs qualified coaches specifically in the junior groups, undertaking easy tasks such as raking sand pits, putting up fallen hurdles etc, with a medium to long term view for those with an interest of attending a UK Athletics coaching qualification, which the club will support you through, the next of which is coming up on Sunday 11th May in Ammanford.
Team Managing: with the outdoor track & field leagues season getting underway in April, there are four vacancies for team managers in our junior age groups, U11G, U11B, U13B & U15B. Team Managers are an essential ingredient for the club and athletes, without them the athletes are unable to take part in the leagues. If you would consider stepping up for just the 2025 summer season please get in touch. As for our coaches and officials there are plenty of experienced people available to support and mentor you through the season within the club. We are looking for someone who is organised, works well in a team, has excellent communication skills, has a positive empathetic attitude with an ability to build relationships with a range of people (parents, athletes, coaches, officials & competition providers).
Cafe Helpers: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday 4.45pm to 6.45pm if anyone can help once a week, ticking squad registers, collecting training fees, selling club kit, tea, coffee and refreshments to raise funds for the club. You just need to be able to work an IZettle and I Pad and make a reasonable tea or coffee.
Officials: Swansea Harriers has a large team of very dedicated volunteer officials that help the club fulfil its commitments in all its league, cup and championship fixtures on and off track throughout the year. Rob Beresford is the clubs officials coordinator and is the main point of contact for any new volunteer officials and all our existing officials. If you are willing and available to help at any of the clubs fixtures as a track judge, timekeeper or field judge for any home or away fixtures or any administrative role, please contact Rob at [email protected] As for our coaches the club will support anyone that would consider attending a UK Athletics Officiating qualification, the next of which is coming up on Saturday 8th March in Swansea.
Please speak to any of our coaches or cafe team on a club night if you’d be willing to help us out in any of the areas above and they will explain how you can get stuck in helping the rest of our volunteers out!
