Results Round Up
This week we have results to round up for you from across the Christmas & New Year festive period at Swansea, Porthcawl, Glynneath, Cardiff, Mountain Ash and Kenfig, including an all time British record!
Saturday 23rd December at the Swansea Bay Parkrun, Dewi Griffiths maintained his current great form comfortably breaking the course record coming home in a fantastic 14.10!
Tuesday 26th December was the Porthcawl Lions 6.5km Boxing Day Run where evergreen M70 Alan Davies was our only runner coming home in 22.34 and 13th place, well done Alan!
Tuesday 26th December was the Glynneath 5 mile Boxing Day race where we applaud Dewi Griffiths who had another excellent run to come home to take the win in 22.29, in fact Dewis time was so fast it was a British Record (subject to ratification), the record was also held by another Swansea Harrier and Olympian, Ian Hamer who ran 22.35 way back in in 1992!!! Dewi was followed home by 3rd Matthew Harvey 25.40, 5th Geraint Williams 27.12, 6th Michael Bryant 27.17 and 9th Daniel Morgan 28.40 to make our top 5 Men home. Sunday 31st December was the Old Father Time 5 miles (Masters Only 35+) at Cardiff which incorporated the Welsh Masters 5 Mile Road Race Championships. First home for the club was M35 Michael Bryant in 28.29 for 16th. Michael was followed home by M60 Ifan Lloyd in 29.07 which was 21st overall and M60 GOLD, well done Ifan and 25th M35 Gabrielius Stuokus 29.42.
Sunday 31st December was the traditional Nos Galan 5km at Mountain Ash where the races have been going for 65 years! In the Women’s elite 5km Kate Roberts had a fantastic run to step onto the podium in BRONZE medal position! Following Kate home were 19th Llinos Jones in 20.44, 26th Anna Williams 21.16 and 26th Sharon Leech 21.24. The Men’s elite race saw Matthew Verran come home first for the club in 14th recording a time of 16.14, well done to everyone who ran is wet and windy weather!
Monday 1st January was the Prince of Wales New Year’s Day multi terrain 6km Race at Kenfig Nature Reserve. First home in 6th place was Alan Davies, followed across the line by 12th Paul Llewellyn, 15th Steve Smith, 37th Gareth Robbins and 49th Richard Jones, well done all!
