Results Round Up
This week we have results to round up for you from Cardiff, Sheffield, Nottingham, Birmingham, Cwmbran, Merthyr Tydfil, Barcelona Spain and Malaga Spain, including an all time Welsh Record!
Sunday 3rd March was the indoor Vault Cardiff event where thirteen Swansea Harriers were competing, our top three Men & Women overall were Men: Charlie Shuall 4.26m, Harry Newton 4.16m & Glyn Price 3.66m. Women: Megan Morris 2.96m, Georgie-Bo Davies 2.76m and Ruby Campion 2.56m. Well done to all those who were there vaulting, click here for the full results.
Saturday 9th & Sunday 10th March were the England U17 & U15 Indoor Combined Events Championships at Sheffield, where our sole competitor U17W Matilda Quick had a very, very successful championships coming away with the GOLD over the five events and if ratified an all time Welsh Record too amassing a total of 3629 points courtesy of a 9.06 60m Hurdles, 1.65m High Jump, 12.82m Shot, 5.49m Long Jump and 2.44.22 800m, very many congratulations Matilda!
Saturday 9th March was the UK Inter Counties incorporating the British Cross Challenge & World Trials Cross Country Championships at Nottingham, where we had five runners selected and representing the West Wales region. Here’s how they all got on:
The main highlight of the day was yet another podium position for U15G Libby Hale getting SILVER, this also secured Libby in SILVER medal position across the whole five race British Cross Challenge Series this winter. Our other finishers were, SW 254th Jenny Mcadie, U15B 212th Osian Morgan, U13B 142nd Jack Griffiths and 271st Isaac Macdie. Well done everyone is such large fields against the very best cross country runners from all over the UK.
Saturday 9th March was the University of Birmingham Winter Throws and Distance Open Meeting where we had two throwers in action getting our and their first outdoor performances recorded for 2024. SW Zoe Dakin threw 44.36m in the hammer, U20M Ben Fenwick threw 37.09m also in the hammer, SW Bronwen Stratton-Thomas ran a PB for 5000m with a 17.25.24 and U20W Lucy Harris threw a 41.95m in the Discus, well done all!
Sunday 10th March was the Welsh Schools Sportshall Athletics Finals at Cwmbran. The club was well represented with athletes mainly in the Afan Nedd Tawe School District team and one in Dyfed where they were up against teams from Cardiff & Vale and Powys Schools too.
The U13B placed 2nd behind Powys Schools and included Swansea Harriers Bo Cuthbertson, Jacob Davies, Efan Williams, Nicolae Jiga-Boy, Jack Jones & Tyler Sweeney.
The U13G placed third with Freya Birt, Sophie Davis, Gwennan Grufydd, Katriel Udoh, Rutendo Chasweka, Somtochi Emenogu, Taylor Shelmerdine & Caitlyn Anthony.
The U15B were the highlight of the day winning their section and now progress to the UK Final on Saturday 6th April at Stoke, the team included two Swansea Harriers Matthew Hines & Rhys Francis, well done boys!
The U15G team were third with Carys Pritchard, Lauren Oshisanya and Ruby Mills.

Sunday 10th March was the San Domenico 20 Mile & 10 Mile Road Races at Merthyr Tydfil. In the Women’s 10 Mile Sioned Howells had a superb run to win SILVER in 2.08.50, Lois Woodward came home in 9th 2.33.41 and just behind in 11th Diane Brownhill 2.34.38. In the Men’s 20 Mile first home was Owen Davies for 25th in 2.18.33 and 53rd Simon Coombes 2.35.35. In the Women’s 10 Mile Sharon Leech just missed out on a podium spot in 4th 1.10.36, followed by 5th Megan Clements 1.10.47 and 33rd Kelly Gipson 1.30.48. Gareth Robbins was our sole representative in the Men for 45th in 1.21.10, well done everyone!
Sunday 10th March was the Barcelona, Spain Marathon where a squad of Swansea Harriers made the journey for a run out in some decent weather! First home was Sam Joseph 2.38.53 followed home by Charles Walsh 2.47.28; Daniel Morgan 2.56.07, Tom Bacon 3.06.50, Tom Morris 3.08.06, Bernard Murphy 3.38.32, Vanessa Harrigan 3.43.23 and Andrew Downie 4.30.31. Well done everyone!
Sunday 10th March in Malaga Spain Jamie Taylor-Caldwell runs 73.25 for the Half Marathon, well done Jamie!
