Results Round Up
This week we have results to round up for you from Dublin, Basingstoke, Baton Rouge USA, Coral Gables Florida USA, Cheshire & Swansea.
Saturday 24th March was the British Schools U15 & U17 Cross Country International at Abbottstown, Dublin. The International took place at the home of Irish Sport and on the same course used for the European Cross Country Championships in 2021. Swansea Harriers had four runners selected for Welsh Schools all in the Middle Girls team, which was great to see. The best individual performance of the day was Libby Hale (Bishopston) who took the race to the English Schools Team, applying pressure with sustained pace throughout. By the time the race entered the last lap she had reduced the lead group to just 3. With around 400m to go it appeared that Libby had done enough to secure the win opening a 10-15m gap with another positive move. However, it was the two English girls, working together, who had the sprint finishes needed to take gold and silver. Libby had to settle for BRONZE in what was the most competitive and compelling race of the day. Wales Girls team captain Millie Gold (St Illtyd’s) again finished strongly in 9th, with Millie Pierce (Olchfa) and Holly Humphreys (Gwyr) helping the team win the BRONZE medal. Congratulations all!
Saturday 23rd March was the Basingstoke Open Winter Throws match, where Phoebe Brown threw 40.71m in the Javelin, well done Phoebe!
Saturday 23rd March Steffan Jones runs 22.76 for 200m in Coral Gables, Florida, USA, well done Steffan!
Saturday 23rd March Sofia Harrison runs 5.09.62 for 1500m in Baton Rougue, USA, well done Sofia!
Sunday 24th March was the Cheshire 10km where 2021 European Indoor Championship 3000m BRONZE medallist Verity Ockenden records her second fastest 10km ever crossing the line in 32.14 to take the victory, congratulations Verity!
