Results Round Up

This week we have results to round up for you from London, Loughborough, Newport, Keswick, Alabama USA, Houston USA, London again and Vienna Austria.

Saturday 20th April saw three of our juniors selected for Wales in the London Mini Marathon where the race covers the last 2.6km of the full marathon route. In the U17W Millie Gold had a great run to come home in an excellent 16th place followed by Ava Davies in 61st and U15G Libby Hale ran very well to come home in 26th, well done all!

Saturday 20th April was the Loughborough open meeting incorporating the British Universities 10,000m championships, where U20M Dafydd Jones came home in 30.05.04 with the SILVER medal in the 10,000m, congratulations Dafydd! Samuel Davies was also competing and cleared an excellent 1.97m in the high jump, well done Sam!

Saturday 20th April our U13 & U15 team were in action in round 1 of the Youth Development League at Newport, the team placed a frustrating 6th out of the 7 teams participating due to not being to cover all the events, despite plenty of athletes at training each week. Thank you to all those athletes who did make themselves available for their club and team managers, who did their very best covering several events each, you were awesome.

Individual highlights included top three A string placings for

U15B Mandikudzia Mupita 4.78m Long Jump, Alfie Philpott 2.60m Pole Vault and Ioan Jones 8.57m Shot & 18.07m Discus.

U15G Taylor Shelmerdine 13.2 100m & 26.7 200m & 1.45m High Jump, Rutendo Chasweka 12.1 75m Hurdles & 4.54m Long Jump, Hannah Sullivan 1.80m Pole Vault, Lauren Oshisanya 8.16m Shot and Tabitha Ventress-Brett 23.99m Discus.

U13G Katriel Udoh 10.1 75m & 1.47m High Jump, Lily Shubin 3.88m Long Jump and Somtochi Emenogu 6.97m Shot.

Saturday 20th April Kristian Jones wins BRONZE in the British Athletics Mountain running Uphill Only Championships at Keswick, Cumbria incorporating the trials for the European Athletics Off Road Championships, Kristian came home in a time of 37.32 congratulations Kristian! Not to rest on his laurels Kristian also won the uphill and downhill race on the same weekend!

Saturday 20th April Steffan Jones runs a 49.01 for 400m in Alabama, USA, well done Steffan!

Saturday 20th April Macey Morris runs 25.08 for 200m and Sophia Harrison runs 18.23.94 for 5000m in Houston, Texas, USA, well done both!

Sunday 21st April was the London Marathon where again the club was well represented with 14 finishers amongst the 50,000+ starters who crossed the finish line of this iconic race. First home was Blair McWhirter 2.24.42 followed across the line by Adam Guillaume 2.26.45; Jamie Taylor-Caldwell 2.45.21; Emily Marchant 2.41.07 Emily also won GOLD in the Welsh Marathon Championships that were incorporated into the race, her time was so fast it takes her to 13th on Welsh All Time Rankings; Sioned Howells also got onto the Welsh Women’s podium in 2.46.27 winning BRONZE well done both!; Marc Evans 2.55.59; Patrick Tudor 3.09.39; Sharon Leech 3.18.44; Diane Brownhill 3.24.20; Sarah Christensen 3.25.39; Millie Thorne 3.36. 13; Vanessa Harrigan 3.46.53; Tori Barry 3.52.07 and Tina Gabb 5.05.08 congratulations all on such a great set of results achieved in windy conditions!

Sunday 21st April Christine Webb finishes the Vienna, Austria Marathon in 3.46.53 well done Christine!
